12 The Carer Experience I wanted to understand personality disorder and find ways to support my partner so attended the carer s support group. Learning the theory behind personality disorders gave me a better insight into my partner s emotions and behaviours. There was group understanding of difficult situations which helped provide supportive strategies and coping mechanisms. It gave us space to consider our own wellbeing.
