2 About Safer London We are an innovative, fast growing, award-winning charity with a vision of young people in London feeling safe and achieving their potential. Our mission is to improve the safety and wellbeing of young people in London affected by violence and crime. We provide specialist support, and training and consultancy, that addresses young people s experiences of violence and vulnerability. About our training All of our training is rooted in our evidence-based programmes with young people, in the areas of violence, vulnerability and exploitation. We create positive learning environments, generating stimulating conversation, and enable tangible outcomes. 4 Safeguarding and Gangs: one day training This one day session is focused on ensuring participants develop a greater awareness of violence, vulnerability and exploitation linked to groups and gangs. Individuals: 150 Up to 25 attendees: 995 Have an improved understanding of gangs and serious youth violence Identify the reasons young people affiliate with gangs Understand the reality of gangs and the media Be able to identify at the earliest stages possible whether a young person is involved in gangs and serious violence Understand the issues around girls and gangs, including grooming, initiation and sexual exploitation supported to consider how your own practice can best address and support gang affected children and young people.
5 Introduction to Supporting Young People Affected by Child Sexual Exploitation: half day training This three hour training session enables participants to develop a greater awareness of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). Individuals: 75 Up to 25 attendees: 500 Have an improved understanding of CSE Reflect on different values and attitudes and the impact they have when working with young people affected by CSE Identify vulnerabilities, behaviours and risk indicators Have an improved understanding of the additional vulnerabilities and risks for young women affected by gangs Develop an understanding of legislation, guidance and procedure in relation to CSE Have a working knowledge of local referral supported to consider how your own practice can best address and support children and young people at risk or experiencing CSE.
6 Supporting Young People Affected by Child Sexual Exploitation: one day training This one day training session enables participants to develop a greater awareness of CSE, equipping professionals with tools to develop effective responses. Individuals: 150 Up to 25 attendees: 995 Have an improved understanding of CSE Reflect on different values and attitudes and the impact they have when working with young people affected by CSE Identify vulnerabilities, behaviours and risk indicators Develop an improved understanding of the additional vulnerabilities and risks for young women affected by gangs Recognise internal and external safety for young people and use the tools provided to develop safety planning Develop confident and robust responses to CSE disclosures Develop an understanding of CSE prevention and intervention tools and related legislation, guidance and procedure Have a working knowledge of processes, resources and support services available for young people affected by CSE supported to consider how your own practice can best address and support children and young people at risk or experiencing CSE.
7 Champions Training Working with Young People Affected by Child Sexual Exploitation: two day training This two day training course is focused on participants developing a good working knowledge of a trauma based approach to supporting and safeguarding young people, based on the Holistic Support Model (AVA & WAGN). Information and tools are provided to enable specialist advice in the role of CSE Champion. Individuals: 300 Up to 25 attendees: 1,990 Review knowledge, attitudes, values and understanding of CSE Develop understanding of the impact of trauma in relation to CSE and gang, group and/or peer-on-peer abuse Assess the impacts of trauma in relation to CSE indicators, signs and behaviours Develop an understanding and working knowledge of the Holistic Support Model as an intervention tool, with associated activities Analyse current policy, protocols and legislation relating to CSE and assess with reference to own service provision Be able to provide advice to colleagues regarding interventions for young people affected by CSE supported to consider how your own practice can best address and support CSE affected children and young people.
8 Missing Children and Young People Affected by child sexual exploitation: one day training This one day training session enables participants to develop a greater awareness of missing children and young people, equipping professionals with tools to develop effective responses. Individuals: 150 Up to 25 attendees: 995 Define what the police and other agencies understand by the term missing Identify early indicators of children and young people at risk of going missing from school, care and home Identify signs and indicators of missing children and young people s vulnerability to child sexual exploitation Develop an awareness of the link between gangs and missing children and young people s involvement in drugs and crime Develop an awareness of the emotional impact of missing children and young people on family, friends, carers, and other concerned professionals Identify the importance of early intervention when children and young people go missing and know how to report professional concerns supported to consider how your own practice can best address and support children and young people at risk or experiencing CSE.
9 Young People Who Display Harmful Sexual Behaviour: one day training This one day training is focused on ensuring participants develop a greater awareness of Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB). Individuals: 150 Up to 25 attendees: 995 Have an improved understanding about children and young people who display HSB Identify the reasons young people display HSB Understand the impact of HSB from both the victims and perpetrators perspective Be able to identify at the earliest stages possible whether a young person is displaying HSB Understand the processes, services and interventions that are in place locally Have practical tools and techniques to work with young people who may display HSB supported to consider how your own practice can best address and support children and young people who support HSB.
10 Safeguarding Young People Using Internet and Social Media: one day training This one day training session, designed for foster carers, enables participants to develop a greater awareness of ways to safeguard young people who are at risk while using the internet or social media sites. Individuals: 150 Up to 25 attendees: 995 Have an improved familiarity with social media, internet and other communication, computer games and applications frequently used by young people Have an increased awareness of the potential risks and impact of using internet and social media Identify behaviours and risk indicators of unsafe internet use and strategies to encourage safer use Have an improved awareness of online grooming, cyberbullying, sexting and associated laws Have an increased knowledge of available support organisations available for young people that engage in unsafe practices while using internet and social media supported to consider how you can best safeguard and support children and young people that use internet and social media.
