Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to identify the research methods used in child development. Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the major physical and cognitive changes that occur from infancy through adolescence. Compare and contrast the properties, mechanisms of action, and major psychological effects of the most commonly used psychoactive substances including nicotine, alcohol, and marijuana. Upon the successful completion of PSYCH 5 (grade C or higher), students will identify and analyze appropriate strategies to resolve personal and/or social conflicts. Upon completion of this course students will be able to explain the categorical approach and identify the major categories of mental illness. pre/post test Explain social and cultural psychological processes from diverse worldviews.
