Orozco SY ; Focus: Integration of STC s Core Values Faith, Justice, Truth, Service, Integrity of Creation, Peace Course Credits: Contact Hours/week: Course Description: 3 units 3hours/week A comprehensive study of the values system that has influenced the ways of life, decisions, relationships, and aspirations of Filipinos and what constitutes their personhood and uniqueness Course Objectives: Cognitive To display understanding of the importance of values in one s life To determine the relationship between: values and religion, moral and ethics, and social and political sciences To classify values in the old and new context To describe, explain and analyze the Filipino personality based on a knowledge of the Philippine value system Affective To acknowledge, respect, and appreciate the Filipino culture and unique Filipino characteristics To relate actual situations involving Filipinos to their personal value system To recognize and appreciate desirable practices that emerge as a result of adherence to Filipino values Psychomotor To strengthen skills in critical thinking regarding the understanding of the Filipino To strengthen skills in self-assessment regarding oneself as a Filipino To clarify the aims and goals, beliefs and convictions, and principles which give rise to the formation of Filipino values To conduct research related to Philippine value system and the Filipino personality

2 Learning Plan Desired Learning Outcomes At the end of the unit, the students must have: defined the terms value, personality, cultural values, family identified the issues related to the study of Philippine values and Filipino personality explained and realized the need for values identified and clarified their personal values recognized and appreciated the role of values in the development of the person s personality identified the agents of socialization that influence the formation of one s values (e.g., the school, the family) shown enthusiasm in discussing the aspects of Filipino culture described, discussed and enumerated the various models in understanding the Philippine value system explained the influences of Philippine culture and values Core Value/s Truth.
