Federal large whale prosector large whale necropsy team leader (one of three prosectors on the East coast of the United States). Attends and leads multidisciplinary groups of experts through necropsies of large whales stranded on the East coast of the United States. September 2008 to present. Research Staff--Large whale propeller wound analyst. Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission/National Marine Fisheries Service. Performs propeller wound analyses on large whales, especially North Atlantic Right Whales struck by vessels. August 2007 to present. Doctoral candidate. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Necropsy Experience: Conducted more than 1,700 manatee necropsies as primary investigator (PI) and/or co-pi. Participated in and/or led numerous small and large whale necropsies (>100 bottlenose

2 dolphins, 5 Sperm whales, 2 Fin whales. Directed 2 Humpback whale necropsies, 6 North Atlantic right whales, 4 pygmy and dwarf sperm whales {breviceps and sima}, 1 melon-headed whale, 1 pygmy killer whale, ~35 rough-toothed dolphins, 1 Risso s dolphin). Co-directed necropsies on ~15 rough-toothed (Steno bredanensis) dolphins stranded in the FL Keys. Participated in numerous California sea lion and a few Northern Elephant Seal necropsies at the Marine Mammal Center. Rescue Experience: Conducted >50 manatee rescues and numerous manatee research captures. Secondary rescue boat captain. Conducted >10 dolphin rescues, and participated in multiple dolphin health assessment captures. Presented on basic anatomy, physiology and behavioral ecology of manatees to ~40 teachers as part of the NEA (National Educators Association). Professional Experience: Sep to Aug Research Staff, Marine Mammal Pathobiology Lab, Florida Marine Research Institute, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), St. Petersburg, FL. Duties have included performing rescues on injured, distressed, or entangled manatees. Performing research captures and salvaging dead manatees (secondary rescue boat captain). Performing necropsies on manatees and other marine mammals to determine most probable cause of death and evaluate health status; work supervisor ( ) Sentiel Rommel, Ph.D, ( ) Martine dewit, DVM. Cleaning, curating, and distributing manatee skeletons to non-profit organizations. Reestablishing a histological tissue collection program for marine mammals at the MMPL. I was an integral part of establishing a laboratory and field histological processing protocol between FWC and University of Florida. Collected and trimmed marine mammal tissues for histology. Setup and organization of audiovisual records of necropsies, rescues, and captures. June Assisted The Marine Mammal Center (TMMC), Sausalito, CA by performing necropsies of CA sea lions, and with restraint and blood draw of sea lions and elephant seals. October Co-taught a necropsy session for the Florida Marine Mammal Stranding Network at the University of Florida in March 12, 2004, Port St. Joe, FL. Co-PI in Tursiops truncatus UME (Unusual Mortality Event). Was primary necropsy conductor along with Wendi Noke (Hubbs) and Judy St. Leger (SeaWorld, SanDiego), on the first day of the response. March 31, 2004, Belize City, Belize. Requested by Wildlife Trust as lead instructor at necropsy training workshop for the Belize Marine Mammal Stranding Network held by the Belize Coastal Zone Management Institute. 1hr presentation Comparative Anatomy of Delphinids and Manatees followed by wet lab on Post-mortem Examination Procedures for Manatees November 2004, Jacksonville, FL. On site coordinator of a fin whale necropsy conducted by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, University of Florida, and Jacksonville University.

Co-directed necropsies of mass stranded roughtoothed (Steno bredanensis) dolphins at the sea turtle hospital and MMPL. May 2005, Port St. Joe, FL. Participated in two week bottlenose (Tursiops truncatus) dolphin captures for health assessment study. Was placed on net-hit boat. May 2005, Akron, OH.
