December, GRANTS AND FUNDING Postdoctoral research award Majeed (PI) 2015 Description: The research sought to examine the reasons for ever trying e-cigarettes among young college students. Recently, e-cigarettes and other alternative tobacco products such as hookah smoking and little cigars and cigarillos gained unprecedented popularity among college/university students and young adults. The findings will shed identify reasons for e- cigarette use as well recommend themes to guide future prevention and cessation programs. Amount: $6,000 Role: Principal Investigator
6 Majeed 6 of 6 Postdoctoral research award Gregory & Majeed (Co-PI) 2015 Description: A mixed methods study to examine how adults perceive the warning statements for e-cigarettes. In 2016, e-cigarettes and other tobacco products were deemed to be subject to the FDA regulatory authority. Under the new regulation, e-cigarette containing nicotine is required to carry an addiction warning statement, This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical. The goals of the current study were to determine believability of the warning, the feelings evoked in response to viewing the warning, and the perceived harm of e-cigarettes.
