15 Summary Positive steps have been made (from 2014) in terms of raising the awareness and profile of the smoke-free policy: Awareness of the NHS Fife smoke-free policy has increased Awareness that it has been implemented across Scotland has increased An understanding that the policy includes anywhere on hospitals grounds has improved Awareness of the signs informing about the policy has increased Proportion of smokers admitting to smoking on NHS Fife grounds has decreased Proportion that stated they had concerns over the policy has decreased
16 Advertising and Promotion
17 Concerns However, still concerns over: A reasonable proportion of smokers still smoking on NHS Fife grounds 83% of those who have smoked recall seeing the signs but still smoked anyway what will make a difference? How it can be enforced and smokers starting to be sneaky about it to avoid being caught Smokers thinking it is ok to smoke in their cars as they are in their own private space
