5 Carolyn E. Sartor, Ph.D Angela Haeny, Ph.D. Psychology Intern ( ); Postdoctoral fellow (2018-present), Yale University School of Medicine RESEARCH SUPPORT Current Principal Investigator, Distinctions between Black and White Young Women in the Course of Alcohol Use NIAAA: R01AA /5/15 1/31/19 The aim of this study is to explore differences between African-American and White young women in the course of alcohol use and the contributions of parental monitoring and early trauma to early and problem drinking. Mentor, Susceptibility to Cannabis Vaping in Young Adults (PI: Foster) Yale Center for Clinical Investigation Scholar Award 12/1/16 11/30/18 The aims of this project are to identify demographic and psychosocial characteristics of young adults at greatest risk for vaping cannabis and to characterize patterns of cannabis use and environments associated with vaping over a 6 week period using web-based assessments. Completed Principal Investigator, Drinking Trajectories Through Young Adulthood NIAAA: F31AA (NRSA) 8/1/02 7/31/04 The goals of this study were to identify drinking trajectories that characterize patterns of alcohol use and abuse from adolescence to young adulthood and to determine what individual and interpersonal factors are differentially associated with these various pathways. Principal Investigator, Drinking Trajectories From Adolescence to Young Adulthood Palo Alto University: Dissertation Grant 2/1/04 1/31/05 The purpose of this study was to identify adult psychiatric and psychosocial correlates as well as more distal childhood risk factors associated with differential drinking trajectories. Postdoctoral Trainee, Biomedical Training in Alcoholism Research (PI: Heath) NIAAA: T32AA (NRSA) 7/1/00 6/30/15 (Postdoctoral trainee 8/1/05-8/14/07) Institutional NRSA to support multidisciplinary postdoctoral training in alcoholism research, with special emphasis on neurobiology, epidemiology, and behavioral and statistical genetic approaches. Principal Investigator, Heritability of Transitions in Women s Alcohol Use/Dependence NIAAA: F32AA (NRSA) 8/1/07 7/31/08 The goal of this study was to characterize genetic and environmental contributions to the rate of transition through stages of alcohol use along the pathway to alcohol dependence in women.

6 Carolyn E. Sartor, Ph.D. 6 Co-Investigator, Offspring of Twins: G, E and GxE Risks for Alcoholism, (PI: Jacob; Bucholz-PI of subcontract to VA Palo Alto Healthcare System) NIAAA: R01AA /1/98-1/31/12 (Co-investigator 8/1/08-8/31/10) The goal of this renewal was the continued study of the development and course of alcoholism among an unusually well characterized sample of young adults at differing degrees of genetic and environmental risk for Alcohol Use Disorders (AUDs). Co-Investigator, Gene Environment in Outcomes of Offspring of Twins with Substance Use Disorders (PI: Bucholz) NIDA: R01DA /30/01-3/31/12 (Co-investigator 8/1/08-8/31/10) The purpose of this renewal was to continue our Offspring-of-Twins study of the development and course of substance use disorder (SUD) in 839 offspring at different levels of environmental and genetic risks by virtue of the SUD status of the father and father s co-twin. Principal Investigator, The Contributions of Genetic Liability, Parenting, and Childhood Trauma to the Development of Problem Substance Use in Young African-American and White Women Robert E. Leet and Clara Guthrie Patterson Trust Awards Program 1/31/14 7/31/16 The goal of this project was to explore differences between African-American and White young women in the relative contributions of genetic and environmental influences on stages of alcohol, cigarette, and marijuana use and the moderating effects of parenting and trauma on genetic liability to early and problem substance use. Principal Investigator, Genetic and Environmental Contributions to the Course of Alcohol Use in Women NIAAA: K08AA /1/10 8/31/16 The aim of this Mentored Clinical Scientist Award was to provide the training and resources to establish a program of research that will inform etiological models of alcohol use disorders and prevention efforts by studying the course of alcohol use in genetically-informative frameworks.
