Haitian Republic National Commission of Fight against Drug (CONALD) Observatory Haitian of Drugs (OHD) DRUG PREVALENCE SURVEY OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN HAITI-YEAR 25 August 27
Plan of the Presentation Introduction Methodology Findings Conclusion Recommendations.
INTRODUCTION Considering the harmful effects caused by using of drugs in various layers of societies, the responsible of the international and hemispherical organizations, chiefs of the governments, the civil society are obliged to combine their efforts in order to erase if not to attenuate this phenomenon which is becoming a world problem. The situation on the international scale, regional as well l as national is very worrying. A study carried out in the year 2 on the level of the t metropolitan area of the Republic of Haiti reveals that a great percent of users of drugs are initiated to the consumption early ( first grade of school ).). Concrete actions must be considered. The Haitian government, conscious of the seriousness of the problem, along with the CICAD saw the urgent necessity to lead a national survey on the use and the prevalence of drugs among the secondary school students in Haiti to be able to determine, in a better way, the problem and to bring the adequate answers to it.
III-METHODOLOGY For the realization of this survey, we adopted the methodology suggested by the SIDUC within the framework of the quantitative studies order to facilitate the comparisons between various countries while respecting the characteristics and particularities of the country. in

Conclusions The drugs most used in the schools are, in first place, alcohol, follow-ups of tranquillizing, the stimulants and the paste of Coke. It is necessary to note, however for the last substance which the results are surprising and unexpected and must be checked further BY other studies. The majority of the students who drink alcohol and take tranquillizing lizing are between years old and those which take stimulants and paste of Coke are a between years old (reserve on the paste of Coke). More than one third of the students think that the consumption of drugs has harmful effects on health. The course of prevention is neglected in the schools; more than 6% of the students do not have a course. Nearly 45% of the students are not informed on the consequences of drugs. The principal reason which pushes the young people to consume drug, it is to try to forget the problems which they face. About six percentage 6% of the students seem to have an easy access a to drug.
Recommandations. Insertion of contents on drug-addiction in the school curriculum Development of module (S) of training whose contents relate to the problems of drug to Haiti. Reformulation of the courses, special training for the teachers of social sciences, since an important percentage of students does not know the existence of course like its importance. Intensification of the appreciation courses since the rate of answers of the students on this subject is very weak.
RECOMMENDATION Preparation of program of sensitizing, prevention and fight against the alcohol consumption, of tranquillizing and other drugs in the schools. The priority in the intervention of Haitian Government must be given to West ( Capital of the country), North, South and Nippes departments( Regions) Increase or organization of the monitoring availability circulation ion of the psychotropic substances because a too high percentage of students has access to drug. That requires a collective effort of o all the sectors related to education and parents to analyze and include/understand this phenomenon.
RECOMMENDATIONS Framing of the young people since the principal reason which pushes them to consume according to their statements, it is to try to forget the problems of the life, then comes curiosity. There is not only the chart to be played of the persons in charge for school as regards prevention but it is also necessary to underline the share of responsibility for the parents and the company in general. Installation of adequate structures to control the sale of the drugs to the minors (tranquillizing, stimulative and others).
