The creation of Ethyl Alcohol as a by-product is an inevitable part of the process of producing baked goods and it is not technically or economically feasible to reduce. The quantity of Ethyl Alcohol created is a function of the quantity of final baked goods produced (i.e. as baked goods production increase, so does the increase in creation of Ethyl Alcohol). As such, we do not intend to reduce the creation of Ethyl Alcohol at this time, however, whenever feasible, as an ongoing effort, we will continue to monitor technological advancements to ensure that options that are both technologically and financially viable are implemented. 3.0 SUBSTANCES REQUIRING PLANS The substances requiring plans are Ethyl Alcohol is based on 2015 Toxics Reduction Act accounting information. Ethyl Alcohol is created as a by-product of fermentation, which occurs during the mixing process. 4.0 OBJECTIVES OF THE PLAN & ANY TARGETS No options have been identified, and as part of the continuous improvement practices at the facility, technical advances will be monitored for new opportunities to reduce the use of Ethyl Alcohol at the facility. 5.0 OPTIONS CONSIDERED FOR REDUCTION Due to the nature of the processes, the creation of ethyl alcohol as a by-product is an inevitable part of the process of producing yeast-leavened baked goods. As such, no technically feasible options were identified or were applicable and therefore no options will be implemented at this time.
