Corporate Services Road To Recovery Behavioral Health & Substance Abuse Services
Employers may be legally responsible for maintaining a violencefree workplace. Often employers are held accountable for bodily harm resulting from a violent act committed by an employee. The pecuniary costs associated with substance abuse and violence in the workplace cost employers billions of dollars each year in lost productivity and revenue. In addition to protecting employees, customers, visitors and vendors, employers must consider requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSHA) and State Workers' Compensation Laws. Based on its over thirteen years of experience working with the justice system, The Road to Recovery has developed high quality training programs to help reduce the risk and expense caused by unethical, illegal or irresponsible employee activities in the workplace. Our trainings provide participants with practical tools for the identification and early intervention of disruptive employee conduct such as substance abuse, sexual harassment, and workplace violence. The training includes the use of informative, easy-to-read professional material such as pamphlets, slides, and custom booklets to help participants better understand the sensitive issues under discussion. The Road to Recovery, Inc., is a behavioral health and substance abuse services minority owned private practice committed to improving the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses through basic and clinical research, paving the way for prevention, recovery and cure. The Road to Recovery, Inc., is dedicated to being a center of excellence in providing behavioral health and substance abuse services at the highest level of care. As part of our comprehensive services, the Road to Recovery provides program research and development along with cultural sensitivity training and corporate social responsibility assessments. Page 2 of 6
Some of our specialized programs and services include: Program Research and Development Cultural Sensitivity Training Violence/Sexual Harassment/Drug-Free Workplace Behavioral Health Assessments Substance Abuse & Addictive Diseases Child and Adolescent Mental Health Relapse Prevention Family Violence Intervention Immigration Evaluations Anger Management Parenting Skills DUI & Drug Court Pre-Trial Diversion Risk Reduction & Defensive Driving Substance Abuse Awareness Training Analyze the scope of substance abuse in the workplace. No business, regardless of size or location, is immune to the countless problems that alcohol and drug abuse can cause. Most individuals who abuse alcohol and other drugs are employed, and when they arrive for work, they don't leave their problems outside the door. Although the rate of current illicit drug use is higher among unemployed individuals, the vast majority of current illicit drug users in the US are employed. Of 12.3 million adult current illicit drug users, 9.4 million (77 percent) work. This is not just another Drug Free Workplace training but a linguistically proper and most importantly a Culturally Competent presentation on not only the impact of the use of Alcohol and Other Drugs in the workplace but in the overall lives of the employees. During the training, the employee will learn about the progression from substance use and abuse to addiction and dependency and the relationship to his productivity, Page 3 of 6
Substance Abuse Awareness Training cont. his personal life and his future. The company benefits with increased productivity reduced turnover, reduced tardiness, reduced absenteeism, safer work environment which saves time on the hiring process by hiring only drug free employees as a long term goal. Additional incentives are reduced health insurance costs and in some States a discount on worker's compensation insurance. Alcohol and Drug Testing Well-managed companies across the nation have turned to Road to Recovery (RTR) for Alcohol and Drug Testing in an attempt to bring order to the chaos of substance use and abuse on the job. Alcohol and drug testing can be managed on a calendar basis, where you send the selected employees for testing, or adopting the Random Selection Program used with the court systems throughout the State of Georgia. In either case, you provide RTR with a list of employees for testing either on a date you select (Calendar Basis) or through random selections. Either way, RTR will provide you with a complete professional report depicting the results of each employee tested. RTR utilizes the icup drug tests available in 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 panel configurations. The icup has built in anti-adulteration to check for tampering and the drug test results panel can be photocopied. Cost varies according to client's specifications Sexual Harassment Prevention Training As an employer, you have the responsibility to maintain a workplace free of sexual harassment. This is your legal obligation, but also makes good business sense. If you allow harassment to flourish in your workplace, you will pay a high price in terms of poor employee morale, low productivity, and lawsuits. Page 4 of 6
Sexual harassment in the workplace can affect anyone in any job. While not limited to women, the statistics show that only 15% of charges are filed by males. Sexual harassment destroys the work environment. The anxiety and frustration experienced by victims can impact their quality of life and the quality of their work. Sexual Harassment Prevention Training cont. However, the prevalence of this problem exacerbates in a culturally diverse environment if there has not been adequate training regarding the dos and don'ts of working in a foreign culture. Violence in the workplace is the second leading cause of occupational death in the US. It is the number one killer of women at work and the number two killer of men at work. More than 1,400 work-related homicides occur each year. This training analyzes the development and scope of workplace violence. According to the National Crime Survey approximately 1 million people are assaulted while at work each year; this figure represents 15% of acts of violence experienced by U.S. residents aged 12 or older {Bachman 1994}. In a more recent finding by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) approximately 2 million workers have fallen victim to violence in the workplace. As with any other societal problems, violence in the workplace does not only impact the individual but also negatively affects productivity, employee morale and general business practices. Added to this, is the importance to bring this to the employee from a culturally sensible perspective in a linguistically proper format. Violence Free Workplace Page 5 of 6
Team Development Coaching Developing effective teams takes time only ongoing process of development will produce sustainable change Compliance Training Group offers you a tested development process that will take your team to the highest level of effectiveness. No training is effective unless behavior changes, and the TDC accomplishes this through initial training, action planning, practice in the workplace, and follow-up testing and reinforcement. Participants do not move on until competency is demonstrated at each stage in development. The benefit to the employer in implementing Team Development Coaching is that everyone is able to communicate with each other more effectively, work production and morale increases. Conflict Resolution Training In today's workplace, conflicts arise constantly, and the inability to come to a resolution can have devastating results and often time can lead to violence in the workplace. In recent years our society has become hyper-vigilant with respect to national origin, creed, gender, and religious affiliation. The workplace is not immune to the conflicts that arise as a result of cultural diversity. Proactive communication is the key to resolving and preventing these adversities, and in a diverse work force the ability to resolve conflict in a timely and effective manner to prevent escalation. The Conflict Resolution Training analyzes the development and scope of conflict resolution and the potential consequences of storing unresolved issues which may even lead to mental health disorders. Conflict resolution will become an important part of doing business, because it prompts clear communications, which is often an ongoing problem between management and employees. Page 6 of 6
