2 What is the purpose of this guide? This guide has been put together by The Children and Young People s Health Promotion Programme (CYPH).The guide pulls together a range of resources that can be used for 0 19 year olds to educate and inform young people, parents/carers and professionals about drugs including alcohol and tobacco. It arose out of a need from professionals wanting to know what drugs resources were out there and for which age group. The resources guide will be regularly updated on our website where we will add any new resources that come out either locally or nationally, websites or remove resources that are out of date. This list is not comprehensive so we would welcome any resources that people recommend that would benefit others or that haven t been included. The guide is broken down into 5 sections: 1) National and Local Guidance 2) Resources for 5 11 year olds 3) year olds 4) Information for parents/carers 5 ) Useful websites Where there are lesson plans/session plans available these are included. New Resources produced locally have also been highlighted. Where can I get the resources from? Most of the resources can be borrowed from Derbyshire Resource and Marketing Service who run a free delivery and collection service. Is there anything need to consider when choosing and using resources? Where possible use active learning methods that generate discussion and encourage reflection Ensure resources are age appropriate and take into account the needs of your audience and their existing knowledge, beliefs and experiences.
