5 alternative eating methods, healthy cooking classes, stuff like that to improve my dietary intake. I tend to eat what's easiest to make, which is rarely the best thing to eat. Food misconceptions. A discussion of healthy snacks verses bad snacks. A discussion of how long it takes to work off a cookie and practical tips like that. Just better nutrition ideas and promoting healthy living. I'm interested in knowing if Hana Wale will construct a problem beyond the physical recommendations listed in the guidelines page. For example, extending the program to include wellness in diet/nutrition and mental in addition to physical. nutrition - how to read labels? what is good nutrition? what is bad nutrition? vitamins/supplements - how do you know what to take, what you need most? Aging and managing health Office exercises; ergonomic office postures; healthy eating facts; simple yoga techiniques to destress the workday; any kind... How to stop snacking!! anything that could help me create a healthy diet plan. I'd like to learn simpler ways of incorporating healthy eating into my diet. Most of the diet plans I find online seem to have a lot of different ingredients, which would make things a bit expensive. Recommended strengthening exercises for women. proper weight training techniques. Food options for Kawaihao Plaza when eating out Eating and cooking healthy Healthy snack ideas (besides carrots/celery) Healthy snack substitutes Fast, healthy recipes Do fat burning pills work and are they safe I'm interested in learning more about general health topics. I have asthma, so i do have restrictions to exercising now. Maybe, some tips on that would be helpful for me in my journey to a better living. Short of avoidance, how to make better food choices for local plate lunches and fast food restaurants. How to incorporate more grains, lentils and other alternative proteins into one's diet. TAI CHI, BREATHING EXCERCISES Importance of daily intake for fruits, vegtables, Dairy, etc. Counting calories and measure intake. Meals that are good nutrition-wise and easy/fast to make. Talk story - see how others are doing, feeling, etc.
6 healthy cooking, recipes simple, easy & inexpensive All Nutrition - good carbs vs bad carbs Nutrition - well-balanced diet Exercise - can you do too much? My brother trains so I'm familiar with the latest nutrition info and the latest workouts (I just don't apply most of it :o) ) But, hmmm, maybe one thing I've always had a hard time with was figuring out what works for my body type. Which exercises cause me to burn the most calories?; What type of calories does my body typically use better? I think its important to know what works for each individual. How to read labels on food would be good. Gail M. has some interesting information about how things like sleep (or lack of) affect weight loss/gain. It might be good to have her speak at our next gathering. Arthritis(?) care and prevention, cartiledge and joint care, cholesteral management. Q21. Comments I'm happy to participate in this program. It gave me a push to start exercising again and hopefully at the end have lost some weight. Are we supposed to record what we do and when? Great job for exercise awareness and getting us to actually do something. I'd be interested in participating in group activities that promote wellness like community walks, etc. Can there be a coordination to maybe reserve the KS pool on Kapalama? -- specific to the ESS wellness program? I would like to incorporate swimming into my routine. I expect to get more energy by going thru this challenge, and I am promising myself that I will do my best.. Thank you for your initiative to start this program. Your efforts will reap rewards for the KS ohana. Me ka mahalo nui. I'm very excited about the Hana Wale program. I've never heard of any workplace that encouraged exercise and fitness during work hours. I've been working out on my own in the past and to see fitness become a part of the workplace just gives me that much more motivation and support. I appreciate your efforts to implement this program. Mahalo! Mahalo nui for planning and organizing such a wonderful activity! I really think this is a great project for us because when you work in an office you tend to not worry about the small things and start to overindulge in things you shouldn't and you do get lazy after a period of time. I am totally for this project and i hope it works out and becomes bigger with more things to look forward to. Thanks to the whole team who taught of this and supporting Kamehameha Schools employees. Thanks for putting this together for us ESSers!! Lots of effort and hard work! It is a great thing to be able to participate in the health & wellness program with ESS. This is a great program to help anyone see the benefits of being well and staying healthy.
