2 Welcome and Introductions Greetings Meeting Purpose o To provide an opportunity for the Healthy Start Grantees to come together for strategizing, skills building, and information sharing to improve operations of their Healthy Start programs. Logistics

4 Healthy Start Division Updates Breastfeeding Training Initiative o Competitive scholarships to attend 5-day Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) training. Additional scholarship available next year. o Community Health Workshops also available, free to grantee. Grantee provides space for up to 50 participants.

Budget Funding/Participant count notification from Division Leadership to all Project Directors on April 12 th o Level 1: 450 Clients (225 Pregnant Women, 225 ICC/Infants) o Level 2: 720 (360 Pregnant Women, 360 ICC/Infants) o Level 3: 900 Clients (450 Pregnant Women, 450 ICC/Infants) Continue to submit completed monthly report templates, even for months when no call is scheduled with PO. 5

6 Healthy Start Division Updates (cont.) 2016 Healthy Start Convention o September 26-28, 2016 o Two plenary sessions will focus on: Social Determinants of Health & Healthy Equity Stress, Trauma, and Resiliency in the MCH Population

7 Zika Virus and Pregnancy

8 What You Need to Know About Zika Virus Disease Virus closely related to yellow fever, and West Nile Virus. Transmitted through o o o o Mosquito bites Maternal-fetal Sexual contact Blood transfusion Outbreaks are occurring in many countries in the Americas. 4 out of 5 people don t know they have Zika. Zika & Pregnant Women Limited information is available, but existing data show: Infection can occur in any trimester. Incidence in population is not known. Infection during pregnancy might be linked to microcephaly in their babies. Preventive measures o o o o Reduce mosquito exposure & bites. Postpone travel to areas where Zika is present. Before travel, talk to healthcare provider about plans to become pregnant & related risk. Male partners should also take preventive action.

9 What You Can Do Connect with, and support, your state s Zika prevention activities. Educate yourself and staff about Zika. Help educate the your clients and your community about how to prevent Zika infection. Share travel notices and other travel-related guidance. Visit for more information.
