1 PRECONFERENCE SCHEDULE PRECONFERENCE A Adolescent Health with Emphasis on Sexual and Reproductive Health Overview: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates that 41% of young people have sexual intercourse and many of them will engage in sexual risk behaviors that can result in unintended health outcomes, such avoiding the use of contraception or abuse of drugs and alcohol. This conference provides a view on the issues that adolescents face while dealing with their sexual and reproductive health and how to diagnose and treat the clinical challenges this group of patients may encounter. Objectives: Describe normal menstrual patterns and diagnose and manage common causes for abnormal menses. List three facets of providing teen friendly contraception Describe how adverse childhood events may impact current behaviors in adolescents. Apply strategies for teen friendly sexual and reproductive health counseling. Key issues on related conditions and disease will be addressed during this preconference, as they are common concerns that may be more prominent in the mature years. Our expert speakers will also discuss therapies and interventions that will enhance the care and management of these patients. Objectives: Define the potential conditions and diseases that directly and indirectly affect women during menopause. 3 PRECONFERENCE C Clinical Training for NEXPLANON (Etonogestrel Implant) Overview: During this product training, attendees will receive hands-on training for insertion and removal procedures as well as implant localization techniques. Completion of this course will allow product ordering from authorized distributors. The training is open to advanced practice clinicians with furnishing numbers or prescribing privileges in their state and to physicians only. This is a sponsored session by Merck and Co., and does not offer credits for continuing education credit. It is the sponsor s policy to verify all clinicians practice, license and eligibility information in advance of the training. Merck and Co. will contact the attendee directly if there is a problem regarding this process. Attendees are expected to be present for the entire training.
