5 International Journal of GYNECOLOgY & OBSTETRICS (India) Contents Volume 1, Issue 4 (December-January 2015) Editorial RV Bhatt Three parent baby Controversy continues 1 REVIEW ARTICLE R.E. Anderson, R. Ahn, B.D. Nelson, J. Chavez, E. de Redon and T. Burke Defining the anesthesia gap for reproductive health procedures in resource-limited settings In resource-limited settings, a lack of infrastructure, equipment and supplies, and trained personnel creates a gap between available anesthesia services and demand. 2 clinical articles Qiang Huang, Miao Zhang and Ren-You Zhai China The use of contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging to diagnose cesarean scar pregnancies Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging was a valuable diagnostic tool for cesarean scar pregnancy that could potentially be used as a reliable initial imaging modality. 7 LvFen Gao, Z. Huang, Jie Gao, Haoshan Mai, Yiting Zhang and Xiaoyu Wang China, Singapore Uterine artery embolization followed by dilation and curettage within 24 hours compared with systemic methotrexate for cesarean scar pregnancy Uterine artery embolization followed by dilation and curettage within 24 hours is an effective uterine preservation treatment for cesarean scar pregnancy. 10 T. Leone UK Demand and supply factors affecting the rising overmedicalization of birth in India After controlling for risk factors and socioeconomic characteristics, the probability of cesarean delivery in India was driven mainly by supply factors rather than by demand. 15 E. Oguz Orhan, B. Dilbaz, S.E. Aksakal, S. Altınbas and S. Erkaya Turkey Prospective randomized trial of oxytocin administration for active management of the third stage of labor In a prospective randomized study, the mode and timing of oxytocin administration did not have a significant effect on postpartum blood loss. 21

6 Ying Zhao, Yunping Zhang and Zhao Li China Appropriate second-line therapies for management of severe postpartum hemorrhage When blood loss from postpartum hemorrhage exceeds 700 ml, intrauterine gauze tamponade should be used as second-line therapy. 26 E. Katsoulakis, M.D. Mattes, J.M. Rineer, T. Nabhani, W.F. Mourad, K. Choi and D. Schreiber Contemporary analysis of pelvic and para-aortic metastasis in endometrial cancer using the SEER registry Patients with early endometrial carcinoma were found to have a lower incidence of pelvic and para-aortic metastases than has been previously reported. 29 C.Maignien, A. Nguyen, C. Dussaux, E. Cynober, M. Gonzales and B. Carbonne France Outcome of pregnancy following second- or third-trimester intrauterine fetal death Most pregnancies after intrauterine fetal death had favorable outcomes; however, adverse obstetric outcomes were more common when the previous stillbirth was due to placental causes 33 P.A.Koul, N.K. Bali, S. Ali, S.J. Ahmad, M.A. Bhat, H. Mir, S. Akram and U.H. Khan India Poor uptake of influenza vaccination in pregnancy in northern India Influenza vaccination among pregnant women in northern India is nonexistent; poor uptake seems rooted in misperceptions about vaccine availability, efficacy, and safety among physicians 37 SPECIAL COMMUNICATION L.J. Frye, B. Winikoff and K. Meckstroth Claims of misoprostol use based on blood sampling should be viewed with skepticism Claims that misoprostol was found in a woman s body fluids should be scrutinized owing to difficulties with detection. 41 E.F. Kjetland, H.M. Norseth, M. Taylor, K. Lillebø, E. Kleppa, S.D. Holmen, A. Andebirhan, T.H. Yohannes, S.G. Gundersen, B.J. Vennervald, J. Bagratee, M. Onsrud and P.D.C. Sendag Turkey Effect of spaced training with a box trainer on the acquisition and retention of basic laparoscopic skills Basic laparoscopic skills acquired via the use of spaced training on a box trainer start to deteriorate within a period of 6 months. 45 SPECIAL ARTICLE E.
