The AiO committee is established to unite PhD students from the Psychology Department of the University of Amsterdam. Our main goals are: 1) Integration of sub-departments (Clinical Psychology, Psychonomics, Social Psychology, Psychological Methods, Developmental Psychology and Work and Organizational Psychology, 2) Supply of useful information (such as important conferences, PhD defenses, etc.), 3) Forming an integral part of the Psychology Department and 4) Collaborating on practical issues Member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO Committee for the Accreditation of Research Masters in the Social Sciences. The NVAO independently ensures the quality of higher education in the Netherlands and Flanders by assessing and accrediting programmes and contributes to enhancing this quality. In addition, NVAO contributes to the increase of

7 quality awareness within higher education and improving the position of higher education in the Netherlands and Flanders in the national and international context Member of the Student Affairs Committee of the Society for the Scientific Study of Psychopathy. This committee is concerned with integrating students in the society by 1) organizing special interest luncheons during meetings, 2) let students express their opinions during discussions with the Executive Board, and 3) bridging communication between students and researchers in the field of psychopathy. Teaching Lecturer in the first-year statistics course for psychobiology students (400 students). Topics included: introduction to probability theory, t-test, one-way ANOVA Supervision of three internship students: 1) network architecture of PTSD, 2) simulation model for bipolar disorder and 3) effects of antidepressant on individual symptoms over time. Also: VRT-2 course during which second-year bachelor students will write a paper about measurement invariance of depression instruments with respect to gender Supervising Practical Research Project (Onderzoekspracticum). Five second-year bachelor students investigated whether intensive use of Facebook is associated with more strongly connected neuroticism, extraversion and narcissism networks compared to less intensive use of Facebook. Lecturer in the course Foundations of Methodology (15 students). Topics included: measurement in psychology, latent variable models versus networks, integrity in psychological science, inter- versus intra-individual models. Guest lecturer in the course Good science bad science (15 students). Topic: measurement levels and admissible statistics Guest lecturer in the course Advanced study in individual differences (15 students). Topic: individual differences in psychopathology from a latent variable versus network model perspective Supervising Practical Research Project (Onderzoekspracticum). Four second-year bachelor students investigated whether experiencing a major life event is more strongly associated with the more cognitive symptoms of depression Lecturer in the course Causality (Bachelor course, co-taught with Denny Borsboom, Lourens Waldorp and Rogier Kievit). The objective of this course is to obtain insight in the philosophical debates on causality and the role of causality in the sciences, and to understand probabilistic models of causal relations, specifically Bayesian networks, as well as their use in statistics. My
