Clinical services Started the Acute Pain Service in HKL in Started the Chronic Pain Clinic in Hospital Selayang in July Also helped to set up the Pain Clinics in Hospital Ipoh (2003) and Hospital Melaka (2005) Started the Menang Program, a Cognitive-Behaviour therapy based pain management programme for chronic pain patients in Selayang hospital in June 2002 this was the first program of this kind in Southeast Asia. Started the Palliative Care Unit in Hospital Selayang in December 2002.

Ethnicity and Chronic pain Epidemiology of chronic pain Pain management in Primary Care Educating healthcare professionals about pain Psychological factors in chronic pain patients Educational Activities: Involved in teaching doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals for many years, organizing and running courses and workshops including: In-service courses on acute pain management (APS) for nurses and doctors in the Ministry of Health. Workshops on the multidisciplinary assessment and management of chronic pain for doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists and other allied health professionals. Workshops on management of cancer pain for doctors, nurses, volunteers and other health care workers. Regularly give lectures on various topics related to pain management, including acute, chronic and cancer pain. Some topics of particular interest to me include neuropathic pain, invasive therapies for difficult cancer pain, multidisciplinary approach to management of chronic noncancer pain, management of chronic pain by general practitioners. Have also organized several conferences / scientific meetings for the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists and the Malaysian Association for the Study of Pain, including the 16 th ASEAN Congress of Anaesthesiology in 2009 and the 2 nd Association of SE Asian Pain Societies (ASEAPS) Congress in Faculty member of the Masters in Pain Medicine distance learning course offered by the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines. Member of the development group for the CPG on Cancer Pain (2010). Also developed the training module on cancer pain management, based on this CPG. Lead person in the implementation of Pain as the 5 th Vital Sign in Ministry of Health Malaysia hospitals developed management protocols and training modules for nurses and doctors. Developed a training module for primary health care practitioners (doctors and allied health personnel) on the management of chronic pain.
