Experience has shown that strains of fungus resistant to metalaxyl-m can develop against which RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG may be ineffective resulting in crop loss. 3 PROPERTIES OF RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68WG RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68WG is a water dispersible granule formulation containing 4.0% w/w metalaxyl-m and 64.0% w/w mancozeb. It has systemic and protective properties. Metalaxyl-M is a systemic fungicide which is rapidly absorbed and distributed throughout the plant and protects new growth produced after application. Mancozeb is a contact fungicide which provides a protective film over the plant. DISEASE CONTROL RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG controls foliar and tuber blight (Phytophthora infestans) in maincrop potatoes. HARVESTING INTERVAL The following harvesting intervals should be observed: Potatoes: 7 days DIRECTIONS FOR USE General Instructions RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG must be applied as a preventative treatment before the onset of disease. Do not use RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG as a curative treatment. RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG should be applied from the start of the blight spray programme. Apply a maximum of 3 sprays of RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG. The first spray of RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG must be applied before the end of June at the latest or earlier if weather conditions suitable for blight are present. The last spray of RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG must be applied before August 1st. Subsequent treatments should be made using a contact fungicide starting no later than 7 days after the last RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG spray. Only contact fungicides should be used for all subsequent treatments following the final RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG application. Products containing phenylamide materials (e.g. Galben M etc.) must not be used. 2

4 RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG should not be applied within 2-3 hours before rainfall or when rain is actually falling. Timing To achieve optimum protection it is vital that a full blight protection programme is started before the risk of blight infection occurs. Protective spraying should commence: 1) Immediately the risk of blight occurs in the area irrespective of the growth stage of the crop. Normally in this situation a blight warning is issued by the Meteorological Service on a national or local level. or 2) In the absence of blight risk in the area or a blight warning, spraying should commence as crops begin to meet along the row. The first spray of RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG should be applied before the end of June in this lower blight risk situation. Water Volume Apply RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG in a minimum of 200 litres of water per hectare Dose Apply RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG at 2.5 kg per hectare. Apply a maximum of 3 sprays of RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG. Spray Interval Spray every days. Under high blight risk, the shorter 10 day interval should be used. Blight protection programme Potato crops must be carefully monitored during the complete period of the protection programme. If blight is identified in crops being treated with RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG, stop using RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG immediately and apply a contact fungicide immediately. 3

5 The programme must then be continued using a contact fungicide at recommended intervals right to harvest. Do not in any circumstances return to a RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG programme or another phenylamide spray (e.g. Galben M). Mixing And Spraying Make sure the sprayer is clean and set to give an even application at the correct volume. Fill the spray tank with half the required volume of water and start agitation. Add the required quantity of RIDOMIL GOLD MZ 68 WG directly to the spray tank. Continue agitation whilst adding the rest of the water. Always agitate the mixture thoroughly before use and continue agitation during spraying. Thoroughly wash all spray equipment with water and a wetting agent immediately after use.
