1 Hands- on MSK Ultrasound Shoulder Symposium: A problem solving approach Ø Saturday 7 th February 2015: Amersfoort, Netherlands. v This one day course comprehensively reviews the techniques and applications of diagnostic MSK US of shoulder joint. Using a problem- solving approach, an expert faculty will demonstrate the examination protocols, pathologies and relevant dynamic examinations for patients presenting with shoulder problems. v One day symposium is supplemented by numerous live demonstrations, clinical focus sessions, case study reviews, a discussion around asymptomatic ultrasound findings and impact on rehabilitation. The day also focuses on shoulder pathologies, normal anatomical variations and different imaging techniques. Course Objectives: At the completion of this course, participants should be able to: ü Optimize an ultrasound image and demonstrate a basic ultrasound examination of shoulder structures. ü Demonstrate protocols to perform an ultrasound examination of shoulder conditions. ü Describe the sonographic appearance of commonly encountered pathologies of shoulder joint, as well as the adjunctive role of MSK US in rehabilitating these pathologies. ü Describe the clinical utility of rotator cuff ultrasound in the management of patients presenting with shoulder pain.

He has specialised in Musculoskeletal Medicine for the last 12 years, during this time he has gained Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine and Injection therapy. He is also one of the first physiotherapists to qualify as independent physiotherapy prescribers in the UK. Suresh took basic MSK US training in January 2010 and subsequently completed skills training course in Oxford. Since 2011 Suresh has used Diagnostic & Interventional Ultrasound as an integrated part of his daily practice. More recently he gained a Post graduate certificate in musculoskeletal ultrasound with distinction from Canterbury Christ Church University. Suresh has unique combination of extended scope skills in the form of non- medical prescriber and able to perform diagnostic and interventional ultrasound which adds a significant value and quality to the orthopaedic triage service in Rochester Kent where he currently works as a senior orthopaedic practitioner in Musculoskeletal Medicine and as well as to the Radiology department at Medway Maritime Hospital where he recently been appointed as a Consultant Physiotherapist/Sonographer in Diagnostic and Interventional Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. Suresh is the first physiotherapist in the country to hold formal qualifications in both Independent prescriber and musculoskeletal ultrasound. Suresh is the first physiotherapist from UK to obtain a visiting fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Radiology department which is internationally acclaimed institution for its work on MSK Ultrasound. Currently Suresh is Chair of ACPOMIT and also sits on Education Committee of European Society of Shoulder and Elbow Rehabilitation (EUSSER) as a board member. He is also a peer reviewer for original articles submitted for publication in Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine.

4 Mr Stuart Wildman, Extended Scope Physiotherapist and owner/editor of Homerton Hospital NHS Trust Stuart is an Extended Scope Physiotherapist working in the NHS in London. He qualified from the University of Southampton in 2003 with a BSc Physiotherapy, and went on to gain an MSc in Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy at The University of Hertfordshire. He is an active member of the executive committee of EPADU (Electrophysical Agents and Diagnostic Ultrasound) special interest group, helping develop the use of diagnostic ultrasound in Physiotherapy within the UK. He is also a member of the well regarded MACP (The Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists) and ACPOMIT (The Association for Chartered Physiotherapists with an interest in Orthopaedic Medicine and Injection Therapy). Stuart is currently studying to gain a PG Cert in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound at Canterbury and Christ Church University, and use diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound daily within his practice to enhance clinical decision making and also to assist with guided injections/aspirations. Mr Edwin Duijn, MSc Edwin is a research physiotherapist and manual therapist with a special interest in shoulder related pain. He graduated as physiotherapist in 1998 and achieved graduation in manual therapist (SOMT) in Edwin completed his Master s degree in Brussels in Manual therapy in 2009, currently doing his PhD titled: Rotator cuff tears: anatomy, imaging and clinical evaluation. His promotor is Prof. Dr. Nicole Pouliart, orthopaedic surgeon of the Vrije Universiteit of Brussels. Edwin also teaches (neuro) anatomy and splanchno on cadavers to medical students two days a week. Edwin owns a private practice with 12 colleagues and currently chairs web committee of EUSSER and is a member of EUSSER exec board. Edwin is currently active in teaching colleagues how to interpretate history taking and physical examination in clinical practice related to the use of diagnostic ultrasound. He also teaches for I- MUC.

5 Mr Niek Vink Niek is physiotherapist specialized in the upper extremity and has been using ultrasound for several years in his clinic and working closely with several surgeons. Also he is manager of the Dutch National Trainingcentre for Ultrasound (NT- e) where he coordinates the education of medics and paramedics in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound. He is convinced of the added value of ultrasound and his goal is to continuously improve his courses and share his knowledge. Mr Rob Mast, Extended Scope Physiotherapist Homerton Hospital NHS Trust Rob trained and qualified as a physiotherapist at the well regarded HvA in Amsterdam in Rob has 19 years of extensive experience in MSK physiotherapy. He has been working as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist in the primary care since Rob has a special interest in the Pilates and Core control concept and been involved in instructing Pilates and Core control techniques to the clinical population for many years. He has held numerous courses in this area educating both patients and physiotherapists. He is highly skilled in manual therapy techniques such as spinal manipulations and deep soft tissue techniques. Rob is one of a very limited number of physiotherapists in the UK who holds a formal qualification (Pg.Cert.) in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. He qualified in 2010 through Canterbury and Christchurch University. He is an experienced tutor on Ultrasound courses teaching fellow AHPs and medical professionals in MSK ultrasound diagnostics as well as ultrasound guided interventions. He is a visiting lecturer at London Southbank University and Canterbury Christ Church University. MSK ultrasound is an important adjunct to his clinical practice and it has aided the accuracy of clinical diagnoses and allows more precise ultrasound guided interventional procedures such as injections and joint aspirations.
