4 STUDY GUIDE: Sports Injuries Previous requirements: There are no established GENERAL OBJETIVES a) To know and prevent common diseases produced by physical activity and sport. Intervention at the moment that occurred the injury. b) To know and value the most common injuries in each sport. c) To describe, analyze and evaluate protocols to take decision in front of sports injuries. d) To know and apply the principles of injury prevention for any athletic activity. e) To acquire the capacity to be autonomous and continuous learning throughout life. f) To recognize and analyze problems in the field of injury prevention and recovery. GENERAL COMPETENCES CG1. Understanding scientific literature in English and other important languages widely used in the scientific field achieving a good management of information. CG3. Developing problem-solving competences through decision making. CG4. Conveying written and oral information about the subject in a correct way. CG6. Developing interpersonal and team-work skills both in a national and international context and in interdisciplinary as well as non interdisciplinary teams CG7. Being able to carry out critical reasoning using the acquired knowledge. CG9. Knowing and complying with the professional ethics necessary to work. CG13. Being able to apply theoretical knowledge to real situations. CG14. Using the Internet adequately as a means of communication and as a source of information CG16. Planning, developing and assessing physical activity programs to prevent injuries CE18. Students whose do not reach the minimum requirements in any assessment section but they reach the mean of 5 pts, they will be pointed with 4.5 pts. Criteria for granting a grade of A with honors: Summation of qualifications exceeding 9 pts., in order of number of UCV granting (number Students). 8

11 o To pass the subject at 2st enrolment: A separate group for students who enrol for the second of successive times will be established and they will be given a tutor The tutor will give six follow-up sessions (two hours each). These sessions will be organised according to students needs in order to strengthen their competences and give them the tools to handle with the subject. Content assessment will follow the official schedule. These sessions are shown in the specific temporal organization of this subject To overcome the subject in the 2nd enrolment will be essential: To attend at least to 80% of classes. Overcome 5 points in the previous not approved competences. o Theoretical / Practical: Overcome with at least 5 points the theoretical- practical exam. (40-.60%) o Team / Individual work: Overcome with at least 5 pts. To overcome the subject in the 3 rd or successive enrolment, it will be essential to overcome with at least 5 points the theoretical & practical exam 11
