1 Destiny Shift The oscillations in consciousness, or what we call the ups and downs of life are kept in motion by our attractions and repulsions to things, our desires for things and our fear of those same things. The very nature of reality in the 3 rd dimension is that human beings have developed an over-reliance on the analytical mind, a sense of duality, and the belief in linear time. This has caused the average person to continually perceive through the lens of the mental body, which is always dealing with polarities, and with a sense of past and future. These are some of the delusions of consciousness of which Einstein spoke, and which become prisons from which we can easily free ourselves when we have the proper tools. In truth, we only have this moment, which includes everything----all that we desire and all that we fear. As Anne Frank says, How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. You don t have to look anywhere but inside you at this moment, to allow for a profound shift on any issue you are dealing with. With this comes a shift in your destiny The Destiny Shift (adapted from Leslie Temple-Thurston s Squares Technique ) This technique is very useful in clearing out stuckness in the physical body and physical world, and also has the effect of clearing the subtle bodies---the mental and emotional. The number 4 and the square itself are symbolic of the physical plane. Consciousness is quite boxed-in at times, and creates a heavy energy. It is as if the dynamic wave energy of life has been stuffed into a box, and cannot flow. Each corner of a square is an aspect of consciousness that has become out of balance. Each corner represents a part of the ego that either pushes or pulls you off center. As Michael Beckwith says, The pain pushes until the vision pulls. This tendency creates suffering for us, and does not move us in the direction of our dreams.

2 Each corner represents our desires and fears. If we don t take the time to examine the nature of our own egos, we will tend to live out the corners very unconsciously. We go on automatic pilot, not knowing why we feel the way we do, or why we continuously do the same things over and over again, as if on a hamster wheel. In truth, we are caught on the wheel of death and rebirth, of which many mystical spiritual disciplines speak, when they speak of karma. Most people blame external circumstances, rather than look within, and turn on the light of their own consciousness. The proverbial Saboteur Archetype is the aspect of consciousness that can make a mess of your dreams, if you are not willing to make this inquiry. When you do, the portal to transformation opens up Using the Destiny Shift offers a very fast way to experience change in your life without having to play out your fears and desires on the physical plane. You are making the shift from karma to dharma, and claiming your role as a CREATOR in your own life. You complete the experience mentally, first, rather than physically. The mental body does this naturally, with its focus on polarities. Desire and fear form a pair of opposites, and are energetic polarities. Desire pushes toward something, and fear pushes it away, or pulls 2back from it. This attraction and repulsion are powerful magnetic forces that shape your world. When you use the Destiny Shift, you consciously examine the relevant polarity and own the totality of your desire and fear.

3 Step One: Pick a Polarity Choose the polarity you want to examine, where possibly you have had some charge lately. Common ones are: success/failure abundance/scarcity control/out of control superiority/inferiority victim/perpertrator love/hate win/lose Step Two: Draw and Label a Square Create a square, and label the two corners on the left side of the square the Desire to. The two corners on the right side of the square are labeled Fear of. Now fill in the blanks with the polarities. And example of using the success/failure polarity is below.

4 Step Three: Turn On Your Light (make all corners conscious) Here is where it gets interesting Enter into this part with an open, curious and non-judgmental mind. Be an explorer in your own mind, with the light of your own consciousness leading the way Which corners are you familiar with? If you have never met some of the corners, really feel your way into them. We have within us all 4 corners of the square. If they are locked in your unconscious, know that they are there. Keep yourself out of denial about this Feel into what each quadrant means to you. Make a list of the thoughts and feelings that come up in relation to each quadrant. Some of these will be simply popping into your mind. Don t discard them. The idea is to capture these thoughts/ideas as they arise. If there is a corner (or two) that you have not touched into before, know that this hidden part is your unconscious, and has tremendous power in your life. Do your best to recall even an instant when you have felt it. By owning it as much as you can, you are taking your power back from this corner. As an example, in the Desire to Succeed quadrant, you might write: Feeling proud about myself Trust in myself Feelings of worth Living the lifestyle I want To make my parents proud To prove my father wrong To help others To gain respect To feel the joy of excellence In the Desire to Fail quadrant, which may indeed be less conscious, you might write: Take the pressure off Feel connected to my family Get sympathy from others Not to surpass my brother Prove my father right Prove my inner critic right

5 In the Fear of Failure quadrant, you may write: Feeling shame and humiliation Proving my father right Prove my inner critic right Going broke Getting depressed Being rejected Being alone In the Fear of Success quadrant, which may be less conscious, you may write: Too much responsibility Losing myself Not being able to keep up with it Feeling like a fraud Realizing it is not what I want Not having time for myself Not having time for my family Really go for it here You may want to come back to this list after walking away from it for a few minutes, but find as many as you can. Empty yourself out Step Four: Tell the Story of Each Square Divide a journal page into 4 equal sections, labeling the top of each quadrant with one corner of the square. In each quadrant you write down all the obvious and nuanced ways in which you know that desire or fear. You can write words, short phrases, or a narrative of how you have lived out that corner in various ways. You will want to include emotions, thoughts, memories, dreams, and the actual circumstances of your life. As you explore each corner, ask yourself how you feel about that corner? Why do you desire or fear this thing? What is the underlying motivation? Let s say you are exploring the notion that success means not being able to spend enough time with yourself or your family. Is that true? Has it been true in the past, or do you see it true about others? Does it have to be true for you? Could success not include having enough time for you and the people you love? Whose definition of success do you want to live by? This is an opportunity to write new stories about what you actually do want.

6 Step Five: Surrender Your Square Turn it over baby Give this whole thing to Spirit You will never sort this out in your mind. Your mental body does not have the ability to resolve this dilemma. Offer it up with a prayer if you pray. Affirm and declare that all these thoughts and feelings are aspects of you. You can get fancy with sage and incense, which I recommend if you are a person who grounds through ritual, but the key is that your tender heart is willing to allow Spirit to do the work for you now. You have turned on your light, and now Spirit will take over. You do not need to obsess or worry You may wonder if this is a time to make a list or a new story about what you actually do want. That will come soon. Be patient. Allow a few hours or a day to pass, and then revisit the place you had been experiencing a sense of stuckness. Remember that all these desires and fears are not real, and are not who you are. You are pure awareness, and can allow these states to pass through you. Relax your belly, and drop into trust. The spiritual teacher, Mooji says, Be daring with life. Say, Okay, turn me into a street beggar if that is what you wish, but I ll be a free street beggar. And then you will see where the shaking is coming from. Can you do it? Others have done it, and have found when faced, their fear is but a ghost that vanishes in the light of their courage and willingness to truly see. The fear is always greater than the actuality. The fear comes because of lack of trust. You feel you can take better care of yourself than God can. You fear what God may have planned for you may not be what you want. This is probably true because the dreams we have are confined to what we know of life and ourselves, which is infinitesimal to the vastness that is. When we let go of what we think will make us happy, we allow Grace to breathe, and great and beautiful things not even imagined of are given space to happen. Step Six: Open to Grace Go for a walk, work in the garden, dance, make a delicious meal. Consciously be in your body. You will experience a shift from doing this exercise. Keep your

7 neutral or compassionate observer present. New insights may pour in. Be open to this, or even to the next step in the process. Grace can only enter the sacred space you make with your allowing, with your trust. Once Grace enters, you become clear, your vibration shifts, and inspired action is called forth from you. You become a destiny shifter
