Chinese Wisdom for Mental and Emotional Health Battle stress, depression and anxiety Harmony ~ Such a Beautiful Word! The Peaceful Interaction of Body, Mind and Emotions A Wondrous Place where there is Healing, Nourishment and Growth! The Place in Ourselves where Everything is Right! For one torn apart by the violent winds of emotional and mental imbalance ~ the body is not whole but in disarray! lack of harmony creates health breakdowns! 4
Some Symptoms that Show We Are Out of Balance Nervousness Hysteria Anxiety Insomnia Restlessness Jumpy Irritable Fear Frustration Exhaustion Depression Anger Defensiveness Hypersensitivity Tension Neurosis Racing thoughts Weeping We can say that these are just the normal up and down emotional reactions to life. When a mood, reaction or feeling becomes chronic or disruptive, it creates continual tension within ourselves and with our fellows, and that becomes very uncomfortable. These can become a storm in our lives creating havoc! There are many people who have always been angry, never have slept well, or have always been low or moody. They have lived with an imbalance for so long they feel it is just the way they are made. Can Herbal Formulas Really Do the Job? Can they Truly Restore Harmony? Wonderful News! They Can and Do! 5
Body, Mind and Emotions are Interconnected Feeling edgy, depressed after the flu or a cold is the body telling us we are out of balance. Herbs can have amazing side effects sleeping better, feeling calmer, being happier. Emotional reactions arise when a body is out of balance. Using traditional Chinese medicine, the whole body can become more harmonious. Liver Balance TCM Stress Relief TCM Mood Elevator TCM Nervous Fatigue TCM A Polite Bow to Traditional Chinese Medicine All elements are connected with emotional reaction. We are considering only working with 2 Elements. Traditional Chinese Medicine uses One Formulation Only. We are considering using up to 4 Formulations at a time! 6
Liver Balance TCM Tiao He Meditate Harmony Anger Irritability Frustration Aggression Depression Liver Balance TCM Reduces excess wood energy Anger, irritability, etc. are symptoms of excess wood energy racing through the body Helps harmonize the internal workings of the body Has been used for detoxification and elimination of toxins Great for clearing out and neutralizing toxins Mood Elevator TCM Jie Yu Relieve Depression Depression Sadness Insomnia Neurosis Hysteria Hypersensitivity Anxiety 7
Mood Elevator TCM Marvelous formula for sagging chi When the entire body s energy is depleted, this formula regulates and restores the vitality of the body. Helps bring sagging parts of the body into proper place Great formula for a weakened, congested liver Stress Relief TCM An Shen Pacify the Spirit Nervousness Anxiety Restlessness Insomnia Excitability Fear Insecurity Stress Relief TCM Excess fire creates a firestorm of mental and emotional issues Calms the nervous system and the mind Great for those that are high strung or just tense Reduces excessive heart or fire energy 8
Nervous Fatigue TCM Yang Xin Nurture the Heart Burnout Broken heart Overwhelmed Insomnia Muddled thoughts Nervous exhaustion Glandular weakness Nervous Fatigue TCM Mother s Arms Comfort and caring when hurt emotionally, mentally or physically y Can help glandular system pull it together after burnout Gives much needed rest to restore and heal Using the Fantastic Four Work with Emotional Issues First! O d t h l h i t One doesn t heal when one is too stressed, depressed, angry or burned out! 9
Using the Fantastic Four Use combinations of the Fantastic Four ~ how do we choose which ones? Check your client s pulse. Listen to them, they will tell you what their issues are. You say you re stressed, do you feel like you re tightly wound? Do you sleep well at night? Is sleep restless? Have you had a loss? Are you frustrated, irritated, feeling explosive? Depressed? How long have you felt that way? What Has Worked for Us! We don t solve deep-seeded issues with just herbal help. But we feel that, with the traditional herbal formulations, we give the client (and ourselves!) feet. Then we can work better with other nutrients and herbs to help them towards wholeness. We use combinations mbinatins of the TCM s listed on a regular basis. We use them freely and without fear that there will be any side effects. A. Stress Relief TCM ~ jumpy, edgy, anxious B. Nervous Fatigue TCM ~ sleepless, hurt, burned out C. Liver Balance TCM ~ angry, frustrated, irritable D. Mood Elevator TCM ~ depressed, low, unable to function Putting Together Programs Be Bold! Extreme stress, anxiety, depression Stress Relief TCM, Mood Elevator TCM, Nervous Fatigue TCM Stress with anxiety Stress Relief TCM, Nervous Fatigue TCM Before & after psychological therapy Stress Relief TCM, Nervous Fatigue TCM Anger and Anxiety Liver Balance TCM, Stress Relief TCM 10
Putting Together Programs ~ Continued Depression for extended periods of time Mood Elevator TCM, Liver Balance TCM With anxiety Stress Relief TCM With sleeplessness Nervous Fatigue TCM Obsessive Compulsive Stress Relief TCM, Nervous Fatigue TCM Addictions Stress Relief TCM, Nervous Fatigue TCM, Liver Balance TCM, Mood Elevator TCM Putting Together Programs ~ Continued Depressed just feeling low Mood Elevator TCM, Nervous Fatigue TCM Mood Swings Liver Balance TCM, Nervous Fatigue TCM, Mood Elevator TCM Singles of the Fantastic Four work wonderfully for their specific purposes you just have to use enough. Using Enough 3/day is a pretty safe beginning when using combinations of the Fantastic Four. This is the way to effect a real change. 1-2/day is good maintenance after change has taken place. 1/day can be used with a formula that is added to balance a program. With underlying anger, add a touch of Liver Balance. 11
Using Enough 1/hour is what we use when there is a crisis situation and using a single. Then reduce to 1 every 2 hours, then to 3/day. 1-2 of each formula before a stressful situation and 1-2 afterwards is excellent! Equivalents 7 Stress Relief = 1 Stress Relief TCM 5 Mood Elevator = 1 Mood Elevator TCM 4 Nervous Fatigue = 1 Nervous Fatigue TCM 5 Liver Balance = 1 Liver Balance TCM Getting it IN! Balancing Amounts How do you get the herbs in for someone who can t swallow capsules? What about children? Yes, you can use these herbs for children! Ever seen a temper tantrum? Make a Tea! 12
Make a Tea TCM s are tea in capsule form They are very easy to put in hot water and turn right back into tea again! 1 to 2 capsules to 1 cup of water Make a tea and sip it all day long a great way to get the herbs in! Make a tea and take out 1-2 tsp. to 1 2 TBS. for younger children. 1 capsule per 25 lbs. for maintenance 1 capsule per 10 lbs. to do a job! Emotional Help for Children Consider diet, rest and family patterns ADHD Stress Relief TCM Liver Balance TCM Tantrums Liver Balance TCM Nervous Fatigue TCM Depression, Weepy Mood Elevator TCM Nervous Fatigue TCM Emotional Help for Children Anxious Children Stress Relief TCM Nervous Fatigue TCM Starting school, Pre-school, New Nanny, Moving Nervous Fatigue TCM Liver Balance TCM as child exhibits irritability, frustration Night Terrors Nervous Fatigue TCM Liver Balance TCM 13
