Frome, Chippenham, Warminster, Paulton will remain in these locations Telephone advice lines for patients and GPs will continue Recently started Consultant Connect to improve links with GPs Introduction of other consultation systems eg telephone consultations, Skype consultations, remote monitoring using mobile phone Apps to check on wellbeing between appointments Will not be affected by the relocation
9 Your services Clinical Measurement Rheumatology is supported by Clinical Measurement services eg thermography, nailfold capillaroscopy Enables clinicians to give accurate diagnosis and optimum treatment to patients Includes Bone Mineral Densitometry (DEXA scanning) Clinical measurement will relocate at the same time as the rheumatology and therapy services Moving to Nuclear Medicine (2018) then Dyson Cancer Centre (2020)
10 Benefits of moving to our new site Alignment of specialist teams Closer working for benefit of outpatients and inpatients eg Rheumatology input for patients admitted with medical emergencies, orthopaedic procedures, complications of the condition / treatment Medical facilities and support much higher on-site at the RUH than at the RNHRD, allowing our sickest patients to have closer input from Rheumatology if they need to be cared for on a medical ward Working with other medical specialties in complex cases Investigations / procedures all on one site Rheumatology will be more integrated for the benefits of patients
11 Benefits of being on the RUH site Purpose built day centre, developed in conjunction with patients, clinicians and carers Improved facilities for patients and staff Located with therapies services on one site Dedicated building near main entrance patients will not need to visit the main hospital when returning for therapy or treatment on a regular basis Potential for the future increased flexibility of service delivery times
