3 AWARDS It is with great pride that I need to announce that Dr Ashley Jeevarathnum (a Fellow in the Division of Paediatric Pulmonology) was awarded the best Oral Presentation Award at the recent Allergy Society Congress. In addition Ashley has been awarded a prestigious Travel Fellowship to the 2015 Congress of the AAAAI in Houston Texas. His paper was titled: Blomia tropicalis and its significance as an allergen in the Johannesburg vs Kwa-Zulu Natal North Coast regions; a Pilot study. Dr Salome Abbott, is working on a collaborative project with Prof Peter le Soueff of the University of Western Australia. This project is exploring the contribution human Rhinovirus type C makes to acute lower respiratory tract infections in children, especially HIV-infected children. She had a paper accepted for oral presentation at the 2013 SATS Congress Her paper was titled: Acute lower respiratory tract infections in African children. DEGREES Dr Adéle Pentz was awarded her Certificate in Paediatric Pulmonology MMed s. Dr Ashley received his Diploma in Allergology.
