2 (3) Registration Study Year The Registration Study Year is your study year in Sem 2, AY and is determined by the following: Total AU earned to date + Total AU registered in Sem 1, AY minimum AU required to be promoted For students who participate in outbound programme in Sem 1, AY : Total AU earned-to-date + School s normal load AU for Sem 1, AY minimum AU required to be promoted For details relating to promotion, please refer to section on Classification of Students at: (4) Notes for students in the following category: Student Category Description General students All students are to register for their courses before the release of the Sem 1, AY examination results except First Year Common Engineering (ENG 1) and Art, Design and Media (ADM 1) students who will only be streamed after Sem 1, AY examination results release. Students are to register their courses on the assumption that they will pass all courses that they take in Sem 1. First Year Common Engineering (ENG 1) and Art, Design and Media (ADM 1) students who will be streamed after Sem 1, AY examination results release Students currently on academic standing (i.e. on Academic Warning or Academic Probation) Inbound exchange students Students on outbound programme in Sem 1, AY and returning to NTU in Sem 2, AY Students leaving for outbound programme in Sem 2, AY Students approved to change programme from Sem 2, AY Students will register their courses after the release of their Sem 1, AY examination results and after they have been streamed to their respective disciplines. The registration study year will remain as at Sem 1, AY It will not be increased to the next year of study even if students were to meet the minimum AU for promotion based on assumption that they pass all the courses registered in Sem 1, AY Inbound exchange students will be registered their approved courses subject to availability of vacancy. If there is timetable clash between approved courses, only one course will be registered. Students may adjust their timetable during the Add/Drop period. Their registration study year is determined based on the assumption that they have earned AU at the host institution that is equivalent to their School s normal load for Sem 1, AY Please refer to the School s registration instructions or check with the Registration Advisors for information on normal load. Students who have been approved to participate in outbound programme in Sem 2, AY will not be able to register courses, since they will be away during the semester. Those who have registered for courses prior to receiving the approval, please release the courses to others immediately once you receive the approval notice. An advisory note on course registration will be stated in the approval letter. Page 2 (By Programme in alpha order) 1 October 2018
3 (5) After the Release of Sem 1, AY Examination Results Students who fail to meet the pre-requisite of the courses that they register in Sem 2, AY , or have been placed on Academic Warning (AW) / Academic Probation (AP) will be advised by their School on the courses to de-register. Students on AP and AW cannot take courses beyond the normal semester load. (6) Advice on placing GERPE/UE on waitlist Number of GERPE and UE to be placed on waitlist up to 5 choices each for GERPE and UE. To increase the chances of being allocated GERPE/UE, students are advised to consider GERPE/UE with less students in waitlist, and place at least 3 choices each for GERPE and UE. Students who are registering courses in Dec 2018 may place or make changes to their GERPE and UE choices on waitlist from 5.00 pm to pm daily, from the day of their registration until Fri, 21 Dec Students should monitor and adjust their waitlist until the last day of registration period, as the number of students in waitlist will continuously change throughout the period. For ENG 1 and ADM 1 students who are registering in Jan 2019 after they are streamed, they are to place their choices for GERPE/UE only during their course registration period on Mon, 7 Jan 2019 (9.30 am to pm).
