PubMed ( was searched with the following keywords: ovarian OR adnexal OR pelvic combined with MR imaging OR CT OR PET OR ultrasound OR sonography. From 1998 to November 2008, studies in the Englishlanguage literature that report the diagnostic performance of MR imaging, CT, PET, or in ovarian lesion characterization were retrieved, and abstracts were reviewed for report of sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy or false-negative findings. Also, retrieved reports were screened for additional citations of studies that were not returned in the PubMed search. LMP = low-malignant-potential tumor, OC = ovarian cancer, 3D = three-dimensional, 2D = twodimensional.
