1 The following is a simplified health program to help support the body in healing naturally. Please be advised that the lifestyle changes and supplements suggested are not intended to treat or cure any disease. Rather, they are meant to support the body s ability to heal itself. This program is for an ADULT. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 please refer to the Product Age Recommendations in the Product Use Guide and consult with your health care provider for product recommendations and dosage. Condition Support Guide for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Over 70 Million Americans suffer from some type of digestive disorder. IBS affects as many as one in five US adults. The cause(s) of IBS may vary with each individual. Some people with IBS may have abnormal serotonin levels. Serotonin is a chemical messenger that's normally associated with brain function, but it also plays a role in normal digestive system function. 1 Some people with IBS may lack the appropriate balance of good bacteria in the intestine. IBS may also be a result of food allergies (like gluten, diary, corn, or eggs). Stress can exacerbate symptoms. IBS commonly causes cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea or constipation. In many cases, you can control irritable bowel syndrome by managing your diet, lifestyle and stress. You may consider taking a blood allergy test (like ALCAT or ELISA ACT) to determine food sensitivities and getting tested for parasites and excess unhealthy bacteria. Candidiasis (yeast overgrowth) is common amongst those with IBS. You can test of you have Candidiasis by spitting in a glass of water first thing in the morning. If the saliva sinks or forms and iceberg beneath the water s surface, you likely have Candidiasis. Please review the Candidiasis Condition Support Guide for more information. Below are recommendations to help your body achieve and maintain optimal health. Please seek the advice of a qualified medical professional before introducing any recommendations into your current regimen. If you take any medications or other supplements, ask your health care provider about possible interactions before taking any Genesis PURE products. 2 Core and Daily Basics that are Especially Important for this Condition: Daily Build Includes nutrients essential to support healthy hormone secretion, which is said to be partially responsible for IBS symptoms.* + Probiotic Promotes healthy digestive flora and the healthy breakdown of proteins. Also supports toxin removal, relief from lactose intolerance and healthy immune function.* + Recommended use: Take 1 capsule daily on an empty stomach 30 minutes before a meal (preferably breakfast). After 7 days, increase to 1 capsule morning and evening. After 7 more days, increase to 2 capsules twice daily for 14 days and then reduce back to 1 capsule twice daily. Noni Unhealthy bacteria has been associated with IBS symptoms. 3 Products that may NOT be Appropriate for this Condition: Liquid/Capsule Cleanse Initially, you may not be able to tolerate Liquid or Capsule Cleanse. You may opt to try ½ dropper full or ½ capsule for a few days to see how your body responds. Otherwise, you may opt for the Superfruit Purification Program instead. Superfruit Purification Program - Toxins accumulate in our body through foods, air and water consumed and can cause many health issues. The Superfruit Purification Program helps the body eliminate toxins. Program details are available in the Education Center (Library). Individuals with IBS may not need to follow the program exactly and may follow the principle of the program and take the juices according to their body's response. Food & Dietary Recommendations for this Condition: Eat a diet rich in cooked fruits (unless Candidiasis or blood sugar issues are present) and vegetables. Until digestive system is stronger, avoid complex carbohydrates that contain high fiber, which could irritate the digestive tract. Unless blood sugar issues exist, eat a small amount (½ - ¾ cup) white rice or potato. Sweet potato may also be a healthy option. Once tolerable, add in cook oats, then brown rice, then quinoa and other whole grains. Keep in mind some people with IBS will see an improvement with high-fiber consumption. Best test is to eat plain brown rice with nothing else and wait two hours before consuming other foods or beverages other than water to measure results. Eat plenty of quality protein and healthy fats from avocados, nut, seeds, eggs and healthy fish. Seafood Recommendations: Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water every day (more if you are cleansing). Water hydrates the body and helps to flush out toxins. You may want to add Genesis PURE Hydration to your regimen to increase electrolytes during the flushing of toxins. Limit dairy consumption, except for organic, plain yogurt or keifer. Avoid alcohol, caffeine (may substitute ENERGY), soda, sugar, artificial sweeteners (acesulfame K [ace- K], aspartame, saccharin and sucralose), preservatives (nitrates, nitrites and MSG), artificial colorings or flavorings and hydrogenated oil. Avoid certain food combinations: Do not eat starches (grains, potatoes, cereals, corn, etc.) with proteins (fish, chicken, beef, eggs, nuts, seeds, etc.). Avoid red meat and pork, both of which are difficult to digest. Never use vegetable or corn oil for cooking, as heating them creates toxins and inflammation. Avoid fried and spicy foods. Take digestive enzymes with meals (see Additional Supplements below).* + Avoid foods are you are sensitive to. You can have a blood allergy test performed or do an elimination diet. 4 ELMINATION DIET: Eliminate all forms of wheat, dairy, corn, soy and eggs from your diet for 7 days. On day 8, reintroduce one of those eliminated foods (for example, wheat). Eat plenty of that food on that day and then wait 2 days and record any symptoms (ex: headaches, itching, dark eye circles, gas, bloating, intestinal discomfort, lethargy, ADD/ADHD symptoms or memory/concentration issues). If no symptoms are present, feel free to continue to eat the food and add in a second food using the same protocol. If symptoms are present, eliminate for 2 more days before reintroducing another food. Do the same until all foods have been reintroduced. If you suspect other foods, do the same experiment with those. Lifestyle Recommendations for this Condition: If you smoke, quit. Chew food thoroughly this aids in digestion and nutrient absorption, helping create a healthier body and mind. Eat until satiated, but NOT full. This means you should neither feel hungry nor full; stop between the two. You should not feel pressure in your stomach region after eating. Pressure indicates you may have over-consumed or are not properly digesting. Always eat sitting down, as the digestive process needs blood and energy. When you stand, blood and energy move to your extremities and away from digestion. Wait at least 10 minutes after eating before getting up from the table, to allow for proper digestion. Enjoy a brisk walk minutes after meals to stimulate digestion. Get plenty of sleep (7-9 hours per night). Do not eat after 9PM (the liver rests from 10PM-2AM). Engage in at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity daily. Vary your routine and incorporate strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular exercise to prevent overuse injuries and promote a balanced approach to physical activity. Use mindfulness activities like yoga, meditation, or gentle stretching to help reduce stress and tension. 5 Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) may help supply the stomach with the proper amount of hydrochloric acid to break down food. You will know if this is right for you. If you experience an upset stomach or symptoms of acid indigestion after taking this with your meal, they your body likely already produces enough HCl on its own and you do not need this supplement.
