2 NRL-Salmonella in Finland NRL-Salmonella laboratories for non-human isolates are part of Research and Laboratory Services Department of Evira: Veterinary Bacteriology and Pathology Recearch Unit, Kuopio (accredited according ISO 17025) Sampling and analysing methods concerning samples from primary production (faeces, environmental samples etc.) Confirmation and serotyping of isolates from animals, foods and feeds Microbiology Research Unit, Helsinki, (accredited according ISO 17025) Sampling and analysing methods concerning samples from food and feed; analyses of feed and fertilizer samples National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) is the reference laboratory for human samples and strains in Finland EURL-Salmonella Workshop Uppsala, DVM Henry Kuronen 2

9 Official laboratories At the moment 22 municipal or commercial laboratories have been approved to do the analyses The suspected isolates have to be sent to NRL for confirmation and serotyping The official aboratories have to be accredited according to the ISO For primary production samples ISO :2017 method (MSRV) EURL-Salmonella Workshop Uppsala, DVM Henry Kuronen 9
10 Interlaboratory Comparison Studies (1) The Scandinavian Interlaboratory comparison study on detection of Salmonella in material from animal production, organised by SVA, Sweden Finnish laboratories have participated since 2010 laboratories are required to participate to the study at least every third year 2018 study (the 11 th Study), 10 g pig faeces per sample 4 blanks (4 / 4) 7x S. Derby ca.59 cfu ( 5 of 7) 7x S. Enteritidis ca. 64 cfu ( 5 of 7) 7x S.
