2 8. General business 8.1. Liberation team 2017 Tom Spriggs has put an application in to drive the truck for 2017.Management committee raised concerns about Tom's health. B Snyman raised the issue with Tom and Tom is all good to go. L Vanderlinde asked if S Field will be part of liberation team. B Snyman said Steve has put his hand up for 2017 season even if Tom could not drive. The management committee said Tom has always done a great job for the QRPF and if he can produce a medical certificate he will be the perfect candidate. Moved L Vanderlinde, second B Snyman that T Spriggs and S Field for Liberation team Carried Phoenix Invitation club letter to QRPF M Hooker raised concerns with the Management committee decision to charge an extra $50 for all members that have not paid the deposit of $150,00 by Special general meeting on the 29 October 2016.This was discussed at length and L Vanderlinde moved, second R Spragg that we do not charge the extra $50 this year as we have moved a motion to enforce a rule at the AGM with regards to members paying a deposit each year before the Special general meeting in October and keep the flying fees the same as 2015 that was voted in at the AGM. The fees are as follows: $550, 00 + $25 Vaccine levy for 30 bird flyers, $450 + $25 for 15 bird flyers. $125 for PAYG flyer and $1 per bird every basket night. Carried 8.3. Feed on the Truck S Johnson requested if the feed on the truck could be changed from corn/wheat to corn/wheat/milo? This was discussed and management committee feels that it would be in the best interest of the members if this was decided at the AGM or special general meeting. The food ration of 4 corn / 0.5 wheat will stay as is for Truck expenses S Johnson raised concerns about the financial statement that it does not give accurate details of what the truck really costs. S Johnson asked M Reynolds if he could improve the report by clearly indicating the cost for the truck. M Reynolds will look into this matter Truck Reports S Johnson requested if the truck could have a logbook to report any issues that come up. The driver must log any problems in the book. This will be checked and rectified if need be. B Snyman will get a logbook for the Truck Rotavirus vaccine L Vanderlinde move second L Turner that the QRPF pay the $25 levy per member and L Vanderlinde honorariums of $900 to the Rotavirus vaccine fund ASAP. Carried 8.7. Suspected Rotavirus B Snyman reported about a Suspected Rotavirus in Brisbane. I was contacted by D Scicluna on Saturday the 25 February about his stock birds throwing up for the last three days and the droppings were green. I decided to go check this out as he knew Dave was not very good with using s. On an arrival birds were throwing up and green droppings everywhere. This was only in the stock loft as the race loft was in great health with solid droppings. I asked what has Dave being giving the birds and if he brought in new stock birds. Dave had being treating the birds for all types of sickness over the past month and this week was on Baycox. On the fourth day of Baycox birds started throwing up and green droppings. I took photos and video recording how the birds were throwing up at this stage no birds had died. I suggested that Dave get the birds to the vet ASAP. Dave took birds to the Vet. I reported to DPI Amanda Lee what protocol should we follow? Amanda Lee said that we should contact Qld Biosecurity. The Vet said the birds had a bit of canker and not sure if there was a virus. He prescribed Emtryl and AVS for 5 days and that Dave should monitor the birds to see if they recover. I called Qld Biosecurity to ask what we should do about these birds with the symptoms of Rotavirus. Biosecurity said that the Vet must report any cases of the virus to Biosecurity. I called the Vet and asked what did he think had caused these birds to be unwell? The Vet said the birds had canker and because there was no mortality he did not think it was the rotavirus. I stayed in contact with Dave all week and the birds reacted very well to the treatment the

3 Vet prescribed. Dave stock birds are all good now 4 March with no mortalities. The lesson learned is that if you suspect any problems with your pigeons take them to the vet ASAP and the vet can give a diagnosis and contact Biosecurity and do some more test if they feel it s necessary. The tests done by biosecurity are free of charge PAYG flyers L Vanderlinde understood how the PAYG system worked, but felt it needed to be worded in the minutes so everyone understood how it works. PAYG flyers must register 40 birds with the QRPF Race secretary before they basket for their first race. Once the second series starts and the PAYG flyers has lost a few birds he can top with a maximum of 20 birds at a cost of $5 per bird. The PAYG flyer must indicate to the QRPF race secretary which birds are missing and register the new birds in place of missing birds. At no stage will the PAYG flyer have more than 40 registered birds. Every time the PAYG flyer baskets birds it will cost $1 per bird up to a maximum of 30 birds per race. Example: Jim has lost 22 birds from his original 40 registered birds. This leaves Jim with 18 birds left. He can now de registers the 22 birds that were lost and top up with a maximum of 20 birds at a cost of $5 per bird. This means that Jim has now 38 registered birds for second series Award for K Miller L Vanderlinde raised the issue that K Miller did not receive life membership, but would like to present an award to thank him for his continues support to the QRPF over the years. The management committee supported this idea Liberation report L Vanderlinde raised the issue that with the code of conduct with regards to liberation of race pigeon s. The QRPF need to keep records of all releases and weather condition so that we can justify if something should go wrong. This is stored on pigeon race net program J Mundy refund R Spragg raised the issue with regards to J Mundy refund for 2016 that he should get the whole amount back. This was discussed at length and the management committee said that he will be refunded his flying fees, but not his membership fees for Trainers R Spragg requested if the trainers for the first few races be released with mass? The management committee pointed out that the flying rules states trainers will not be released with mass Crate Supervision/clock read H Graham requested clarity with regards to the new rule of 4 members to basket / Clock read. Harry also wanted to know what will happen if a club does not abide to the rule? B Snyman said that club results will not count as part of the QRPF results. Section/Club committees must ensure that there is 4 Flying members competing & present when basketing for any QRPF race. Should there not be enough members present or competitors then that club is required to basket at any other approved QRPF basket facilities. Section/Club committees must ensure that there is 4 Flying members present for stamp off when stamping off for any QRPF race. Should there not be enough members present then that club is required to stamp off at any other approved QRPF basket facilities Life Rings 2017 B Snyman asked if everyone was happy with the life ring from the Netherlands? A few members reported sharp tips on the rings but overall we're happy. The management committee said that we should order again from the Netherlands as they were a lot cheaper that the local supplier.

4 8.15. Crate allocation 2017 Crate allocation was discussed at length with the date set on the 22 April All flying fees are to be paid by this date. B Snyman raised the issue with regards to NCPC & LCPC of how many flyers will fly with QRPF? H Graham said NCPC will have six members. B Snyman will contact LCPC to get numbers. D Bitossi and S Field have put their hand up to load the crates for This will be discussed at the next management committee meeting in April White Elephant trailer B Snyman wanted to know if he should sell the white elephant trailer at the back of the fed shed. The management committee felt that we should hold on to this trailer. It was discussed on how we could get shelter cover for the trailer so it does not rust away GPS co-ordinates B Snyman raised the issue that should a member require GPS co-ordinates for their loft. The best is to get a google map picture with an x mark where the trap of the loft is and send it to QRPF race secretary. This way we can use the Pigeon race net program to get your accurate loft co-ordinates 9. Date of next meeting The next management meeting will be held at the QRPF Fed shed Monday 3 April 2017 at 7 30 pm 10. Close The meeting was closed at 8.53 pm. B Snyman Honorary Secretary QRPF Inc.
