3 THE NATURAL CHOICE The challenge of helping the hearing impaired is not always a simple business. Every case is individual, and every solution unique. Widex has long understood these complexities and constantly strives to find not just the right solutions but also the most natural solutions. This is reflected in three areas integral to the Widex philosophy design, technology and the environment: Widex products are designed to combine high performance with stylish looks. We work tirelessly to create natural sound using the latest technology. And our unique approach to finding the best solutions has meant that our new headquarters takes the environment into consideration. For Widex, these things come naturally. 4 THE NATURAL DESIGN For Widex, it is only natural that design is of vital importance. Our products, which have won international acclaim, are designed with both form and function in mind.

7 DESIGN Widex products reflect the long tradition of Danish design where quality and attention to detail also leave room for individualism and experimentation with new technology. The new DEX assistive listening devices illustrate this perfectly. They incorporate completely new wireless technology and a functional design. But just as important is the look and feel of the devices. As electro-acoustic engineer Thomas Kyhn explains, a great deal of attention is paid to ensuring they are easy and intuitive to use. Our devices should not just be easy to use but should also look familiar. For example, the M- DEX for mobile phones is recognisable and looks just as good as any other gadget you would find in your pocket or on the table. For Widex, form and functionality go hand in hand. After all, choosing a hearing aid or accessory is not just a question of performance but also aesthetics.

11 TECHNOLOGY As professionals and users alike can attest, Widex is renowned for developing hearing aids with state-of-the-art technology. One of the reasons for our technological success is the effort put into creating a natural listening experience. Behind this lies the Widex Sound. Jesper Theill, an audiological researcher from Widex explains: It really is all about the sound. The Widex technology in our hearing aids focuses on natural sound. We take into consideration the bigger picture, and we have total control over everything we do from custom-made chips to in-house production. When developing hearing aids, we concentrate not just on speech or loud sounds, but weak sounds too that is, all the sounds in the real world The latest hearing aid from Widex, CLEAR440, is a good example of this. It uses unique wireless technology to produce as natural sound as possible. After all, being able to hear as natural sound as possible is not just the priority of any hearing care professional or audiologist. It is the natural choice for the hearing impaired.

12 THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT With our revolutionary new headquarters, we have created a building, complete with production facilities, that is entirely CO2 neutral.

14 The building reduces C02 emissions by 700 tonnes a year, the equivalent of the emissions from 250 gas-heated houses A windmill on the site will deliver more power annually than Widex uses in total; the excess power is fed into the electricity grid, providing a CO2-free energy contribution to the local area.

15 ENVIRONMENT Underlying the goal of finding the best solution possible is the belief that things can always be done better. This informs everything Widex does, not just the development of hearing aids. The design of the new Widex headquarters is a case in point. Faced with global challenges such as the depletion of fossil fuels, it was only natural for Widex to turn to other energy sources such as solar and wind power. Engineer and member of the management Julian Tøpholm says that such thinking was integral to the design of the building right from the outset. At Widex we believe in taking the right way forward even when it is difficult. The new building gave us the opportunity to look at the way we use resources and energy and actually do something about it as we have done by making the building entirely CO2 neutral for example. In this respect, the new building is typical of the way Widex approaches any challenge it is faced with. As with our products, we constantly seek new ways to make things better - not just for the hearing impaired and our professional partners, but for society in general.
