It is a concern in healthy as well as compromised patients. In an effort to improve and accelerate healing of both hard and soft tissues, substitutes including growth factors and bio-materials have been traditionally employed. Membranes were also introduced to separate tissues. Recent research clearly indicates that L-PRF (Leukocyte -Platelet Rich Fibrin, a second generation of platelet concentrates) signiﬁcantly enhances wound healing in both soft and hard tissues. Evidence now supports the assertion that this has the potential to replace the above mentioned substitutes in many situations. Clinical procedures beneﬁt from recent advancements with platelet concentrate protocols including, but not limited to: soft tissue healing, plastic periodontal surgery, gingiva enlargement, MRONJ, regeneration of infra-bony defects, ridge preservation, sinus augmentation, immediate implant placement and implant osseointegration itself. An added beneﬁt is that these platelet concentrate protocols offer signiﬁcantly lower cost treatment solutions to our patients, due to the fact of their ease of use and inexpensive preparation.

3 2nd European Meeting L-PRF Leukocyte -Platelet Rich Fibrin Basic knowledge of the biological mechanisms of both soft and hard tissues healing has increased exponentially in the recent years. Recent basic and fundamental research conﬁrmed the beneﬁcial effects of the use of autologous platelet concentrate protocols in several periodontal indications, such as: soft and hard tissue regeneration (sinus augmentation, ridge preservation, horizontal bone regeneration, gingiva enlargement), improvement of the osseointegration process, soft tissue management. These advancements can now be incorporated into the daily practice. During this meeting world authorities will concentrate on the results of current basic research, as well as on evidence based clinical protocols, in order to share their experience with you! Saturday September 8th: The congress itself will start on Saturday with 5 sessions of 1.5 hours each. Each session will open with an overview of the literature on a speciﬁc indication of L-PRF looking for the scientiﬁc evidence (30 min), followed by presentations from clinicians summarizing their own experience (see preliminary program). CONGRESS VENUES The hands-on is organised in the dental school, University Hospital St Raphael, Kapucijnenvoer 33, 3000 Leuven. The conferences will be given at the Pieter De Somer Auditorium, Charles Deberiotstraat 24, 3000 Leuven. Sunday September 9th: Sunday Morning (2 sessions of 1.5 hours) the different intra-oral applications of L-PRF will be presented in a step-by-step approach in order to discuss tips and tricks to reach the best outcome. This should help you to start with the L-PRF concepts. On Sunday Afternoon a separate meeting is scheduled, dealing with the use of L-PRF in chronic wounds (diabetic foot, VLU, trauma, burns,...).
