Assistant in the Department of Oral Implantology between 1992 and 1996.

His is the author of several articles in the field of osseointegration and bone regeneration with a special emphasis on maxillary sinus grafting techniques. He is a renowned international lecturer.

Pascal Valentini is an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration and the President of the European Academy for Osseointegration.

4 CoursE PresenterS Prof Pascal Valentini In 1982, Pascal Valentini obtained his D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) from the University of Paris VII. He then became Clinical Assistant in the Department of Oral Surgery at the University of Paris VII between 1983 and 1987, and after he graduated in Oral Implantology in 1992, he became Clinical Assistant in the Department of Oral Implantology between 1992 and Currently Pascal Valentini is Adjunct Associate Professor of Implant Dentistry at University of Loma Linda, in California, USA and an Editorial Board Member - Clinical Oral Implants Research. His is the author of several articles in the field of osseointegration and bone regeneration with a special emphasis on maxillary sinus grafting techniques. He is a renowned international lecturer. He is also Program Director for European Post Graduate Oral Implantology at the University of Corsica, in Corte, France, and for the University of Liege in Belgium. Pascal Valentini is an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration and the President of the European Academy for Osseointegration. He runs a private practice limited to oral and implant surgery in Paris (France). Prof Saso Ivanovski Saso Ivanovski graduated with BDSc (Honours) from the University of Queensland Dental School in He subsequently completed a BDentSt research degree in 1995, following which he was awarded a National Health and Medical Research (NH&MRC) postgraduate scholarship and completed a PhD in This was followed by specialist training leading to the award of an MDSc in Periodontology in Saso was a NH&MRC postdoctoral fellow and a Senior Lecturer in Periodontology at the University of Queensland from 2003 to During this period, he was awarded a fellowship by the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and spent a year as a clinical fellow at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. In 2006, Saso was appointed the inaugural Chair and Professor of Periodontology at the Griffith University School of Dentistry and Oral Health where he leads the specialist training program in periodontology. He currently combines this position with his part time specialist practice in periodontics and surgical implant dentistry. Saso is a fellow of the International Team of Implantology (ITI) and past federal president of the Australasian Osseointegration Society (AOS). Saso has published over 50 papers in the peer-reviewed international literature and has lectured nationally and internationally. He leads an internationally recognised research group with an interest in the biological aspects of osseointegration and periodontal regeneration. Dr Mahnaz Syed Dr Mahnaz Syed qualified from Guys Dental School in the UK in 1992 following which she went into general dental practice completing her Diploma in general dental surgery. In 1995 Mahnaz travelled to Romania with a British based charity treating under privileged children. Dr Syed commenced her specialist training at the Royal London Dental Hospital in 1998 and gained her specialist M.Clin.Dent with distinction in During her specialist training she completed her fellowship and membership qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons England. Mahnaz then worked with Dr Joe Bhat at the Moor Park specialist centre as a Periodontist and also as a principle clinical researcher in a multi disciplinary research project in investigating prognostic factors in relation to treatment outcomes in patients with aggressive periodontitis. Upon completion of the study Mahnaz went on to work at the Royal London Hospital as associate specialist Periodontist and clinical lead in mucogingival surgery. Mahnaz has presented her clinical work and research within the UK and internationally most recently in the Euro Perio 5 Madrid Mahnaz was the Periodontist in the UK version of the TV show Extreme Makeover After working in a specialist periodontal surgery in West Perth, Dr Syed has now opened her own Periodontal Surgery Elite Perio, located in Subiaco. Mahnaz can be heard on radio station 6PR about every six weeks discussing various dental issues to the general public in a talkback segment.

5 Sinus Lift and Bone Grafting Overview We often find that a number of our patients do not have the required bone volume for successful dental implant/prosthetic rehabilitation. The selection of the appropriate bone graft material and the application of the most up to date augmentation procedures are extremely important in optimising the jawbone anatomy. Dr. Syed s course on Pig Jaws will focus on atraumatic tooth extraction using Piezosurgery as well as successful management of the extraction socket. Prof. Valentini s Cadaver course is clinically focused and evidence based. It is divided into 3 parts: Surgical techniques for maxillary sinus grafting lateral approach Utilisation of Piezoelectric Bone Surgery Bone grafting and direct loading of Implants The final day of this course is dedicated to two live patient surgeries performed by Professor Ivanovski and Professor Valentini.
