4 Antibacterial Activity Oxidized cellulose is known for its action against a wide variety of microorganisms since it creates a low ph area which is hostile for bacteria 1,3,4. This low ph effect is independent from antibiotic mechanisms, so antibiotic resistant bacteria are also affected by antimicrobial activity of oxidized cellulose 1. antimicrobial activity is evaluated in in vitro tests 5.
