Feburary 7th, 2019 The Prosthetic Revolution: A Minimally Invasive Prosthetic Procedure (mipp) Dr. Mauro Fradeani (ITALY) This presentation discusses the fundamentals required to accomplish a pleasing, functional and long-lasting aesthetic outcome, encompassing: Treatment plan, team collaboration and understanding of patient s needs and selection of restorative materials. A myriad of factors affect the aesthetic and functional outcome of complex cases. Properly addressing these factors will facilitate the achievement of a predictable and successful prosthetic rehabilitation. Among others, factors that will significantly improve the functional and aesthetic outcome include: Proper pre-operative aesthetic and functional analysis, correct data transmission to the laboratory regarding the occlusal plane orientation and inclination and definition of an appropriate incisal edge position. After graduating in medicine and surgery in 1979, Mauro Fradeani completed a specialisation in dentistry at the University of Ancona in Active Member of The American Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, he maintains membership in The American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. He is also the author of Aesthetic Rehabilitation in Fixed Prosthodontics Vol. 1 Aesthetic Analysis, edited by Quintessence International and translated into 9 languages, and of Vol. 2 on Prosthetic treatment: a systematic approach to aesthetic, biologic and functional integration. He runs a private practice limited to prosthetics on natural dentition and on implants in Pesaro and Milano (Italy). He is Past President of EAED - European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (biennial 2003/2004); Past President of AIOP - Accademia Italiana di Odontoiatria Protesica (biennial 1999/2000); Visiting Associate Professor in Prosthetics at Louisiana State University - New Orleans (USA); Associate Editor of The European Journal of Aesthetic Dentistry (EJED); Member of the Editorial Board of Practical Periodontics & Aesthetic Dentistry (PPAD) and of the Journal of Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry (JERD). A close collaboration between the surgeon and restorative dentist is required both for treating natural dentition or dental implants, especially in the anterior area in challenging clinical situations such as patients with a high smile line. Material selection also plays a fundamental role in management of complex rehabilitation cases. This presentation illustrates how metal-free ceramic materials are selected and optimised for use, including in full-mouth rehabilitation. This lecture outlines an innovative operative protocol allowing clinicians to face highly compromised clinical situations with a minimally invasive prosthetic procedure (MIPP) that guarantees excellent, long-lasting aesthetic results and a better patient acceptance. Learning Objectives Select appropriate ceramic material according to clinical necessities. Select appropriate technique and ceramic material when approaching a full-mouth rehabilitation. Learn innovative operative protocols with minimally invasive prosthetic procedures (MIPP) with longlasting aesthetic result. 1

March 14th, 2019 Hypomineralized Enamel - Here, There and Everywhere Prof David Manton (AUS) Molar-incisor hypomineralization (MIH) affects a significant proportion of the population (approximately 15% worldwide), with an impact on teeth in the primary dentition. In the past two decades, MIH has attracted attention, both clinically and in research and more recently hypomineralized second primary molars (HSPM) have been identified as commonly affected (4-9%) and they are also risk factors for MIH. Both HSPM and MIH may have a profound impact on the oral health of the affected child, with early diagnosis being important to allow appropriate management to prevent post-eruptive breakdown of the affected enamel. The pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of HSPM/MIH affected teeth are discussed. Dr Manton graduated BDSc (Melb) in 1984 and worked in general practice until 1991 when he undertook an MDSc in Paediatric Dentistry. He was dental advisor to the Federal Government from and won the KG Sutherland Prize of the RACDS in David is currently Elsdon Storey Chair of Child Dental Health and heads the section of Growth and Development at The University of Melbourne and is involved in several collaborative research projects with both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics post-graduate and PhD students. He is on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Pediatric Dentistry and the European Archives of Pediatric Dentistry. He is on the Advisory Committee (board) of ORCA. David has spoken throughout Australia, Asia and Europe and has wide ranging experience in laboratory and clinical trials of CPP-ACP, molar-incisor hypomineralisation (MIH), Minimal Intervention Dentistry and the detection of caries. His interests are in all aspects of pediatric dentistry, enamel de- and remineralization, teledentistry, and MIH. 2

May 9th, 2019 Simplified Treatment of Severe Dental Erosion with Ultrathin CAD-CAM Occlusal Veneers Dr. Luis Henrique Schlichting (USA) Dr. Luis Henrique Schlichting is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of General Dentistry, School of Dental Medicine, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. He received his D.D.S. degree from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, in 1995, Specialty Certificate in 1999, Master degree in 2006 and Ph.D. in As part of his Ph.D., he was Visiting Research Associate at the University of Southern California, Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, Los Angeles ( ), in order to conduct his doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Pascal Magne. From , he was Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and Dental Materials, Dental School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Dr. Schlichting still travels to Rio de Janeiro to serve as the principal investigator of an ongoing randomized clinical trial evaluating the clinical performance of the new design of ultrathin occlusal veneers. In 2013, Dr Henrique returned to the US serving a one-year tenure as Visiting Professor in the College of Dental Medicine, Nova Southeastern University, Florida. This course centres on an innovative, perceptionaltering approach in the treatment of moderate and severe dental erosion. Traditionally, clinicians tended to remove excessive amounts of sound tooth tissue in order to place full coverage crowns or even onlays. However, this approach has the effect of increasing the chances of periodontal complications because margins are usually placed subgingivally and raising the likelihood of endodontic involvement. Schlichting s approach involves the fabrication and bonding of ultra-thin CAD/CAM occlusal veneers to patient s teeth allowing only strategic reduction of sound dental structure even dispensing the need for tooth preparation. There is no need for extending the preparation in order to hide margins or obtain retention form. Laboratorial and clinical results will be presented, along with step-by-step techniques. Learning Objectives Advantages of occlusal veneers over traditional approaches based on laboratorial and clinical results. Principles of tooth preparation for occlusal veneers: Control of preparation based on diagnostic wax-up. Provisionals and luting procedures for occlusal veneers. Dr. Schlichting has published over 16 clinical and research articles on aesthetic and adhesive dentistry. He also coauthored among others the book Routes for Excellence in Restorative Dentistry: Mastery for Beginners and Experts which has been translated into three languages and was awarded the Jabuti Literary Award (2011) by the Brazilian Book Council. He has lectured and taught hands-on courses in Brazil, USA and Europe. 3

June 20th, 2019 When to Do What: From Direct to Indirect Restoration in Styleitaliano Dr. Walter Devoto (ITALY) The guidelines of modern restorative dentistry are adhesion and minimum invasiveness. Composite materials are now the market-leading permanent and universal restoration solution: There is no treatment planning which does not include the use of composite materials as for sealing, anterior or posterior restoration or prosthetic crown support. The perfect knowledge of the advantages and limits of these materials is fundamental for all dentists: A superficial approach to the use of composites may lead to failure and very long chair-work times. Born in Chiavari, Dr Devoto graduated with honours in Dentistry and Dental Prothesis in 1991 at the University of Genoa. He has worked as a teacher and demonstrator at the University of Genoa in the undergraduate courses of Dentistry and Dental Prosthesis, teaching Pedodoncy and Conservative Dentistry. From , he taught Reconstructive Dentistry (as part of Laser Refinement course) at the same University. Former positions include: Lecturer at the University of Madrid, Master of Aesthetic Dentistry ( ); Lecturer at the University of studies in Siena, teaching Aesthetics and Restorative Dentistry ( ); and Professorship of Conservative Dentistry. Current teaching positions include: Lecturer at the International University of Catalona, Barcelona (post graduate course in Aesthetic Dentistry); Visiting professor at the Universitè de la Mediterranee, Marseille (Refinement of Aesthetic Reconstructive Dentistry). With particular interest in the field of Conservative, Aesthetic Restoration, Dr Devoto is the author and co-author of various publications in specialised international journals. As a speaker, he has participated in courses and conferences, both at a national and international level including as speaker, collaborator and demonstrator at most major European Universities. In addition, Dr. Devoto is the author of one of the chapters of Le Guide Estetique by A.Faucher and J.C. Paris, QDT 2003, France; Odontoiatria Restaurativa by A.I.C. Elsevier 2009, Italy; Traumatologia oral by A. Mendoza, Ergon 2013, Spain; Endoprotetyka by M. Zarow, Quintessence 2013, Poland; and Co-author of Layer by J. Manauta & A. Salat, QDT To know composite materials, now more than ever, means to understand their practical application, choose the ideal material on the market under the mechanical and aesthetic point of view, understand when to choose indirect rather than direct technique, evaluate the use of composites not only in the conservative field, but also in the prosthetic one, both for provisional and permanent solutions. All in all, it means to properly plan the patient s treatment, focusing on the quality of its final result and the working time to reach it. With these clear indications in mind, the dilemma of whether to use composites or ceramics is no longer an antagonistic choice but rather the two materials represent integrable solutions, for use even in the same mouth. Today s clinicians have the possibility of optimising the advantages that these materials bring to the profession. Learning Objectives How to link the correct material to the right patient. The advantages and disadvantages of white material in anterior. Long term results and age of patient: the dilemma in aesthetic dentistry. 4

September 12th, 2019 Managing The Complexities of Modern Dental Implant Treatment for Predictability and Success Dr. Chris Ho (AUS) The success of dental implant treatment is well evidenced in the literature. However with increasing numbers of implants placed and time in-situ, the ability to provide complication-free treatment is becoming a concern. Peri-implant problems have become an ever-increasing problem for dentists and dental companies, with much of the recent focus on implant surfaces and connections as well as how to manage complications. Biological and technical complications along with increasing demands from patients for natural aesthetics are challenging as well as problems that are here to stay. Dr Christopher Ho is a Specialist Prosthodontist who received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery with First Class Honors at the University of Sydney. He completed his postgraduate studies in the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in Oral Implants at the University of Sydney, and a Masters of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics with Distinction from the University of London. He completed a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics from the University of Sydney and is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He conducts a large multi-disciplinary dental practice with general dental practitioners and specialists focusing on comprehensive dental care. In addition to his private practice, Dr Ho lectures extensively on aesthetic and implant dentistry both nationally and internationally. He is involved with the evaluation and development of new dental products and materials with several leading dental manufacturers. He was the Oral B spokesperson for Australia from He contributes to the University of Sydney, having contributed to their undergraduate and postgraduate programs for over twenty years. Additionally, he lectures for the Oral Implant Diploma and Post-graduate Prosthodontic programs at the University of Sydney. The importance of comprehensive diagnosis, treatment planning and execution is paramount in treating implant patients. This presentation will cover the common pitfalls that Dr Ho has seen over the last 20 years in prosthodontic and implant practice. Tips will be shared on how to overcome these problems, and importantly how to avoid or at least minimize them in the first place. Learning Objectives Understand diagnosis and planning for dental implant treatment. Be familiar with the digital workflows possible for planning. Identify risk factors for dental implant therapy. Manage biological and technical complications with implant treatment. He is Faculty member of the Global Institute for Dental Education, Academy of Dental Excellence and Visiting Lecturer at Kings College London, United Kingdom. He is the author of numerous publications, as well as the editor of Wiley-Blackwell textbook Practical Procedure in Aesthetic Dentistry. He is in private practice in prosthodontic and implant dentistry in Sydney, Australia. 5

October 24th, 2019 The Lost Art of Full Effort Thoughtful Endodontic Treatment Dr. Terry Pannkuk (USA) Judicious critical thinking is the essence of treatment planning and decision-making in health care. In this webinar, Dr. Pannkuk will detail the important components of an endodontic exam with a comprehensive perspective which constructs a predictably successful treatment plan. The discussion will highlight assessment of remaining tooth structure, evaluation of cracks, proposed tooth function, and consideration of occlusal forces. Case histories will highlight endodontic technique from access preparation with strategic extension, prudent removal of infected dentin, and thorough exploration of complex root canal system anatomy with the aid of microscopy and advanced CBCT imaging. A native of California, Dr. Terry Pannkuk, graduated from University of California at Los Angeles with a degree in Biology, Georgetown Dental School with a D.D.S., and Boston University with an M.Sc.D. in Endodontics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics; former Editor and Publisher of The Endodontic Report; former President of the Boston University Endodontic Alumni Association; current Reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics (official Journal of the American Association of Endodontists); Past President of the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry; President and Founder of the Schilder Institute for the Advancement of Endodontics; Editor and Publisher of PDL (Pure Dental Learning), Honorary Lecturer at the University of Warwick ( ); Volunteer Clinical Professor at the University of California at San Francisco; and International Lecturer-Author of topics relating to clinical endodontics. He lives and practices in Santa Barbara, California. Disease transmission through multiple portals of exit is a key challenge in performing effective root canal therapy and management of the apical third of the root requires advanced expertise. Dr. Pannkuk will explain irrigant properties and flow enhanced through activation and the lowering of fluid viscosity. The selection and placement technique of an appropriate root filling material will be shown in great detail with several case examples highlighting special cases and a clinical rationale for the choices made. Decision-making that addresses fracture resistance, consideration of biologic width, and the selection of appropriate core build-ups will be explained with the aid of cases histories followed up on long term recall examination with extensive documentation. Interdisciplinary communication and a team approach to patient-centered care will be emphasized. At the end of this presentation the participant will be able to perform a comprehensive endodontic exam and develop a predictably successful treatment plan. At the end of this presentation the participant will be able to perform an endodontic access that develops a convenience form that best debrides the apical third of a root. At the end of this presentation the participant will be able to choose and activate an appropriate sequence of irritants that best cleans complex root canal system anatomy. At the end of this presentation the participant will be able to choose and place appropriate root filling materials in compromised and uncompromised tooth roots. At the end of this presentation the participant will be able to place a core with an aseptic durable seal. At the end of this presentation the participant will be able address root fractures and biologic width complexities. 6

December 5th, 2019 Hurts So Good! Management of Acute Dental Pain and Appropriate Opioid Prescribing Tom Viola (USA) Management of acute odontogenic pain is accomplished through a clinical approach that successfully incorporates both opioid and non-opioid analgesics. However, moderate to severe dental pain often occurs well after office hours and away from our immediate supervision. Thus, it is critical for clinicians to be able to accurately identify a patient s need for pain control, develop an individualized pain management plan and assess the efficacy of analgesic agents employed. With over 30 years experience as a pharmacist, educator, speaker and author, Tom Viola, R.Ph., C.C.P. has earned his reputation as the goto specialist for delivering quality continuing education content through his informative engaging presentations. Tom s sellout programs provide an overview of the most prevalent oral and systemic diseases and the most frequently prescribed drugs used in their treatment. Special emphasis is given to dental considerations and strategies for effective patient care planning. As a clinical educator, Tom is a member of the faculty of twelve dental professional degree programs and has received several awards for outstanding teacher of the year. Tom instructs dental hygiene students and practice dental hygienists in pharmacology and local anesthesia in preparation for national board exams. As a published writer, Tom is well known internationally for his contributions to several professional journals in the areas of pharmacology, pain management and local anesthesia. In addition, Tom has served as a contributor, chapter author and peer reviewer for several pharmacology textbooks. This program will provide strategies for effectively managing dental pain with opioid and non-opioid analgesics and analgesic adjuvants, while also mitigating associated risks. Special emphasis will be given to appropriate practices for prescribing analgesics as well as identification and treatment of opioid analgesic abuse. Learning Objectives Understand pharmacology and mechanism of action of opioid and non-opioid analgesics, as well as their potential for abuse. Identify intended roles of these analgesics in the treatment of acute dental pain, as well as situations that may preclude their use. Discuss best practices for prescribing opioid analgesics as part of an individualized patient pain management plan. Describe techniques useful in recognizing and identifying potential addiction as well as avoiding potential drug diversion. Learn current protocols for the management and treatment of opioid addiction. Examine guidelines for proper storage and disposal of unused dosages. 7
