5 During the Shade Assessment, use the verbiage: In addition to your cleaning, Dr. has asked me to establish your baseline shade. We know as clinicians, teeth darken with age. So I will assess your shade for your chart. During tongue scraping demonstration, use the verbiage: We all probably learned to brush our tongues as kids. Brushing rids the tongue of about 45% of its bacteria and volatile sulfur compounds. What we do know, though, is that tongue scraping (demonstrate a pass) rids the tongue of about 75%* of its bacteria both the volatile sulfur compounds and oral malodor types of bacteria.
