3 Practical FotoSan Blue treatment FotoSan Blue is used in the treatment of infections in the oral cavity in cases where: You have access to and can aly the hotosensitizer () in contact with atogene microorganisms. (For a full mouth treatment) Five different tis There are 5 different tyes of tis: BLUNT ti Ø 4 mm for surface treatment BLUNT ti Ø 8 mm for surface treatment PERIO ti long L 23 mm for eriodontal ockets and furcation treatment. The ti is cylindrical with a diameter of 1 mm where of the final 5 mm has a roughened surface. This unique design ermits increased light through the ti and a wider sreading in the eriodontal ocket. If the ti can only be laced aroximately ½ down the root canal, use 2 x 30s. In cases of aical clearance aly an additional 2 x 30s in the root canal. In cases with aical eriodontitis and/or abscess aly additionally 10s using the BLUNT ti from the gingival side ositioned at aex. If the ti only reaches aroximately halfway down the root canal. 5 Gingival and mucosa treatment Gingivitis In case of gingivitis erform conventional scaling. The FotoSan Blue light is used with a cover to which the BLUNT ti is attached. 6 Periodontal treatment Periodontitis/Periodontitis aicalis/furcation/peri-imlantitis Perform conventional scaling and root lanning. The FotoSan Blue light is used with a cover to which either a PERIO ti or a BLUNT ti is attached. Ste 1: Aly Liquid into canal until full. Ste 2A: For dee eriodontal ockets (>5 mm): Use the PERIO ti 2 x 10s for each surface of the ocket, deending on the deth of the eriodontal ocket or furcation and the degree of inflammation (see table). Deth of eriodontal ocket U to 4 mm Treatment time er surface 10s 5-7 mm 2 x 10s 8-9 mm or > 8-9 mm 30s NOTE: If the entrance of the eriodontal ocket or furcation is very narrow use the ENDO ti instead. NOTE: For shallower eriodontal ockets (<4mm ste 2A may not be necessary). Ste 2B: Continue by using the BLUNT ti for 10s on the outside of the ocket, aly both to the oral and facial side of the tooth. Kee the ti in firm contact with the gingival surface. Ste 3: Rinse the eriodontal ocket or furcation with saline. In case of aical eriodontitis and/or aical abscess light additional 30s from the gingival side using the BLUNT ti ositioned at the aex. In cases of aical clearance. Light 2 x 10s in each eriodontal ocket/furcation. Then light additionally 10s using the BLUNT ti in firm contact with the gingival tissue ositioned at aex. 6

7 Caries treatment The FotoSan Blue light may be used to decontaminate a thin layer of decayed dentine. Esecially useful when caries is in roximity to the ul and risk of caing is a concern. Excavate as much of the decayed dentine as ossible. Ste 1: Aly Gel until cavity is full. Ste 2: Light for 10s with the BLUNT ti attached keeing contact with.
