2 Parameters to Ensure Success of the Curriculum Curriculum must: Include recommendations made in various reports (e.g., Oral Health in America, Curriculum and Clinical Training in Oral Health for Physicians and Dentists: Report of a Panel of the Macy Study, AAMC Report IX ;Contemporary Issues in Medicine, American Dietetic Association: on Oral Health and Nutrition) Be driven by isolating most important aspects of oral-systemic interrelationships relevant to non-dental healthcare providers Outline learning objectives that are appropriate, congruent and clinically applicable to the scopes of practice of a range of healthcare disciplines Employ an interprofessional approach in creating blueprint and vetting learning objectives Incorporate adult and independent learning styles Incorporate multi-media components and digital technologies (e.g., 3D animation, clinical photography, video of intraoral procedures) that engage millennium learners Consolidate courses instead of placing courses in a spiral curriculum

3 Provide maximum flexibility to accommodate various disciplines and needs of various teaching institutions Be appropriate for both pre-licensure education and continuing professional development Provide 2 versions- hard copy and interactive online version Courses must: Incorporate case-based learning, standardized patient simulation, etc. Incorporate recommendations for clinical application Provide useful tools to assist non-dental HCPs in screening and appropriately referring patients at risk for oral diseases and conditions Work well in flipped classroom Be accreditable Content must be: Globally relevant, including applicability of content to second and third world countries Written by highly recognized experts Provide content appropriate for IPE capstone experiences that require learners to apply knowledge base and critical thinking skills in collaborative management of patients at risk for oral-systemic diseases/conditions Reviewed extensively by an interprofessional peer review team to ensure accuracy, relevancy, and applicability to the wide range of
