5 COM: PE 277:Introduction to Kinesiology and Physical Education SLO #2 Pathways - Students will identify and describe the pathways and requirements for career opportunities in the field of Kinesiology or related field. Status: Active Assessment Cycle: Project - This is a CLC project. Students will research and identify the type of college degree's required for entry level and advanced level positions in each of the 5 major career fields and Internship opportunities available in Health and Fitness, Therapeutic Exercise, Teaching Physical Education, Coaching and Sport Instructions, and Sport Management. Standard and Target for Success: The CLC Team will identify the educational and internship opportunities for the 5 major career fields with a minimum accuracy of 70%. of the 29 students who completed the project 23 was able to research and find coaching opportunities. The other 6 students stated they need additional time in find internship opportunities. (10/25/2015) Faculty Assessment Leader: Shannon B Williams L. Mendoza Reviewer's Comments: 48 students participated in the CLC project. No group was more than three students, yet each had to do their own independent research and collaborate with team members to form small alliances designed to support each other. null.courseaction: 80% of the students performed above the standard for this course, reach out and network with additional agencies in the surrounding communities to secure more opportunities for our students.. (10/25/2015) 39 students met the 70% standard, 8 students were lower than the standard, and one student never completed the research nor collaboration with the group. The method of assessing this SLO seems to be a good one. It had the students engaged and on task. It was interesting to see them meet before and after class to discuss meeting times and dates, and getting organized to complete this project. The plan should remain as is, and perhaps we can lower the minimum standard in order to include a few more students on the "met the Standard" side of the project. 66% seems to be a better number for the standard and according to the results from these students, five additional students would have meet the standard. (10/09/2015) Faculty Assessment Leader: Ladislao Mendoza Page 5 of 11
