2 Dear colleagues, We are very happy to invite you to the 1 st International Advanced Sinus Dissection Course in Berlin taking place from the 30 th to the 31 st of March, This meeting is the follow-up event of the basic course introducing our newly established Sinus Academy in Berlin dedicated to high-end training for sinus surgeons. Endonasal Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) has evolved as the standard technique for treatment of nearly all kinds of sinus disease. A multitude of different surgical techniques have been developed in the last years focusing on different diseases and special manifestations beyond the range of these established indications. Endonasal or transnasal surgery has proven to be effective also in addressing lesions right in or even beyond anatomical boundaries of the paranasal sinuses. The Advanced Sinus Dissection Course strives to make the participants familiar with actual techniques of extended sinus surgery placing emphasis on demanding problems of the maxillary sinus and also on the frontal sinus, orbita, pterygopalatine fossa and the anterior skull base. The dynamic fusion of concise oral presentations, immediately followed by preparatory demonstrations by the faculty and specific guided personal training units of the participants constitute the essential feature of our course. The faculty sets highest priority in clearly structured anatomic preparation, each step referring to clearly defined anatomical landmarks. Using this concept, we strive to convey the necessary expertise to our participants for successful future personal surgical practice. Special highlights of our Advanced Sinus Course are: Intensive support and guidance by the faculty in performance of all personal training units. Training places for dissection are very well-equipped with HDvideoendoscopy, a large variety of microsurgical instruments, shaver and navigation. Each complete, nature-identical anatomical specimen is subjected to preparation by two participants. 2

3 Specific adjunctive course material like a USB stick showing essential videoclips of all important surgical steps as well as accompanying hand-outs are included.
