Relief Items Provided (1) Tents : 5950 (2) Plastic Mats : 1300 (3) Blankets : 2800 () Generators : (5) Ration Packets : (6) Hygiene Kits : 000 () Non Food Items : 2300 () Medical Teams : 28 b. On request of NDMA, PRCS is catering for the food / healthcare requirements of population of affected areas for next 3 months. c troops (including medical teams) and helicopters from Southern Command actively participated in the relief operation.. Challenges a. Rehabilitation of the affected people at safer places instead of the low lying areas. b. Removal of self help basis / localised dams, which are one of the reasons of flash floods. c. Capacity building of the Balochistan Government in order to tackle such kind of disasters. d. Timely provision of promised relief packages to the affected populace. Torrential Rains / Floods (229 Jul 2010) 5. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (1) Deaths : 8 (2) Injured : 832 (3) Houses Damaged :

Helicopters 23 (including 6 x US) ii. Boats Operating 150 (Excluding locally arranged boats) iii. Total individuals Rescued (+) iv. PAF helicopter transported a medical team to Mari Indus. v. Evacuation of 265 x Chinese, stranded in Dubair Valley have been completed. vi. 2x Reserve Bridges of Army have been moved to Malakand in order to restore road communication. vii. Today 2565 tourists were evacuated from Kalam. Taking a total to 3283 x individuals evacuated from the valley. viii. Army has established x field hospitals (Charsadda, Nowshera, Jalozai and D.I. Khan) to provide medical assistance to the flood affectees. ix. WFP is presently supporting 13,000 families in KPK through its food support programme and plans to increase the figures upto 60,000. x. US Government is providing assistance in shape of Meal Ready to Eat (MREs). A total of 36,000 packets of MREs have been provided for flood affectees. xi. vii. x CH and 2 x Black Hawk also actively participated in the rescue operation in KPK. PAF air dropped 3000 food packets in Swat Valley. (1) Sustenance of Kalam Valley having 600,000 population and restoration of road infrastructure. (2) Restoring link of Lower Dir with Upper Dir. (3) Danger of out break of epidemics. () Handling of health, food, shelter, water and sanitation issues.

Punjab (1) Deaths : 55 (including 36 due to rains) (2) Injured : 10 (Including 98 due to rains) (3) Houses Damaged : (a) Tents : 11,000 (b) Food packets : 3,000 (c) Cooked food : 32,000 (d) Blankets : 5,000 (e) Plastic Mats : 18,00 (f) Net Mosquito : 50 (g) Relief Camps : 166 (housing 235 persons) 3 (a) Rescue Efforts i Helicopters : (3 more arriving today) ii. Boats : 205 iii. Individual Rescued: 3606 iv. Additional army troops have been moved to support the relief and rescue activities in Kot Addu. v. PAF helicopter transported field MI room to Mianwali. vi. PDMA Punjab has provided 2 truck load of food items to Mianwali. vii. Prime Minister of Pakistan alongwith Chairman NDMA visited the flood affected areas of Punjab on 3 and August viii. On request of Punjab Government, NDMA has coordinated release of Emergency Medical and Cholera kits from WHO. ix. On night /5 August 1x aircraft each from Turkey, Spain and Qatar carrying relief goods arrived at Chaklala airbase. x. PAF has transported 12 x boats, 2 x water purification plant, 20x Generators, 583 x cartons of medicines, 1 x medical team including a lady doctor and 2,000 MREs to Multan. xi. 1 x Indonesian aircraft carrying relief items will arrive at Chaklala air base tonight.. Relief and rescue work in the affected areas.. Sind a. Summary of Losses Nil. (1) Army troops along with 115 x boats have moved in threatened districts (Larkana, Kashmore, Nosheroferoze, Dadu, Nawabshah, Jamshoro, Khairpur and Thatta) in order to preempt the likely flood situation. Whereas 1600 x troops have been placed on 6 hours notice to move to assist the civilian administration. (2) 6 x Helicopters (2 from Army and from Pakistan Navy) have been earmarked for relief operation in Sind. (3) 35 x Boats have been relocated at Sukkur and conducting rescue operations in affected areas. () Navy has also moved its medical teams (including a lady doctor) to Sukkur.

4 (5) Naval rescue teams evacuated approximately 2000 individuals from Kashmore, Ghotki, Panu Aqil and Sukkur. (6) PAF transported 2 x water purification plant, 20x Generators, 581 x cartons of medicine and 12,000 MREs to Sukkur. (1) Preparation for likely flood situation in the province. (2) Evacuation of population from threatened areas. (3) Safety of barrages. 8. AJ& K (1) Deaths : 63 (2) Injured : 50 (3) Houses Damaged : 282 () Power stations damaged : (5) Following roads are blocked: (a) Mansehra Muzaffarabad (b) Muzaffarabad Chakothi (c) Neelum Valley road has been restored upto Ashkot (near Athmuqam) (a) Tents : 1600 (b) Food Packets : 6000 (c) Plastic Mats : 2000 (d) Blankets : 000 (e) Generator : 2 (a) 550 x families were rescued to safe areas. (b) 2 x Helicopters of Anti Narcotics Force carried 9,000 MREs and rescued 169 x individuals from Neelam Valley on August. (c) UN OCHA has been requested to undertake rapid need assessment in AJ&K. (1) Sustenance of people in Neelum and Shunter Valleys. (2) Restoration of the road infrastructure. 9. Gilgit Baltistan (1) Deaths : 12 (2) Injured : 16 (3) Houses Damaged : 80 () Following roads are blocked: (a) Gilgit Ghizar (b) Gilgit Rawalpindi (c) Gilgit Khunjrab (d) Jaglot Astore (e) Skardu Dassu

(f) 1105 x families were provided with shelter and food by the PDMA of Gilgit Baltistan. (g) 80% restoration work of Road Gilgit Ghizar road has been completed and is likely to open tomorrow. (h) On request of NDMA, PIA authorities have agreed to increase the daily flights to Gilgit Baltistan as under: i. Skardu : 2 ii. Gilgit Baltistan : 3 (1) Sustenance of the population of Gilgit Baltistan due to severance of KKH. (2) District Ghizar is cut off from the rest of Gilgit Baltistan. (3) Looming disaster situation in the wake of land slides and formation of lake at Atta abad. 10. Misc Activities.
