1 Travel Placement Handbook Getting Started 1. Before beginning the travel nanny placement process, our families provide us with a detailed application to assess their needs. a. Adventure Nannies then interviews each family to gather information and to determine their fit for our company. Adventure Nannies screens and keeps a record of the family'ʹs information and childcare philosophies. b. Families inform Adventure Nannies about the dates, times, and locations that they need a nanny, along with the foreseeable itinerary and details of their trip. 2. Adventure Nannies matches each family with a nanny or multiple nannies, considering the professional s skill set, location, and availability. a. Adventure Nannies calls or s nannies that best match the skills, experience, and availability for each position. b. If none of the nannies on our current travel roster fit the family needs, a search campaign will be launched. Nannies who apply through this campaign will be subject to the same vetting process our traditional applicants pass through. c. For each position, several nannies are presented to the family for consideration. Being prompt and professional in responding to us will increase the likelihood of being hired for your desired position. It is important to make yourself easily reachable. Please carry a cellphone or check your /voic often and contact us as soon as possible.

2 d. Once candidates are presented, the family schedules Skype or in- person interviews before selecting a dynamic nanny for their travels. 3. If you are presented as a candidate for a position, we will serve as liaison for setting up your interview. Please contact us if you have any questions before or after the interview. Do not contact the family directly at this stage in the process. Interview Etiquette a. Make a great impression! Please be prompt and well spoken when responding to inquiries from families. When making their decision, families consider the tone and professionalism of your correspondence. If you have any questions regarding the placement or family, contact Adventure Nannies, not the family directly. b. Take some time to review the job description prior to your interview and prepare a few well thought out questions for your prospective employer. c. Look for opportunities to show off your nanny skills right from the start interact with the kids, jump in to help out the mother/father right away, and say hello to the pets. Don t be shy about this! It s your chance to make a fantastic first impression. If interviewing over Skype, be sure to ask questions about the children s personalities, needs, and family goals for their travel experience. d. Dress professionally even if your interview is over Skype. Something modest, clean, and simple is best. Be sure to wear something that is also comfortable so that you can get down on the ground and interact with the kids, if the opportunity presents itself. e. Bring a copy of your resume and letters of recommendation. f. If you choose to wear makeup, do so in moderation, and do not chew gum.

3 g. Be punctual! Arriving a few minutes (no more than 5) ahead of time is ideal. If your interview is over Skype, sign on 10 minutes ahead of time and test your camera/internet connection to ensure all are working properly. h. For Skype interviews, be sure the room is well- lit, and the background is clean and free of distractions. We suggest a plane white wall, no messy bedrooms or loud coffee shops. Be sure there are not loud, distracting noises in the background. Also, be sure your computer is fully charged or plugged in. i. Contact Adventure Nannies immediately if you cannot reach a family, they cancel the interview, or you have an emergency. If there is an emergency and you need to cancel, please contact Adventure Nannies as soon as possible. j. Follow up to your interview with a thank you note or explaining why you think you would be a good fit for the position, and a few specific details of your conversation that you really enjoyed. Rate of Pay for Travel Positions Hourly Rates All of our nannies negotiate their own hourly rate. Our families will generally have a strong idea about their budget, but many do have some flexibility in what they are prepared to offer the right candidate. We encourage you to be flexible with the family when setting your price as well. The median range our nannies charge is between $15- $25/hour. We will always advocate for our nannies to receive the best possible pay. Daily Rates In some occasions, we encourage families to come up with a daily rate for travel positions. These rates are based on your hourly pay in relation to your projected schedule. We encourage this type of salary in situations where it is difficult to determine when the nanny is on duty or off duty during travel. For a nanny who is expected to work different hours each day and is staying in the same

4 hotel or rental home as the family, it may be difficult to determine which hours are considered working and which are not. A daily rate can ease the tensions that may arise from this confusion. It is important for the nanny and family to understand that overtime rates and additional compensation will still be owed when a nanny with good reason feels they are working beyond the agreed upon schedule. Travel Nannies: Return Assignments Because you are an outstanding nanny, some families may ask you to come back and work with them again! If this happens to you, please follow the following guidelines: What to Do When a Family Requests You for an Additional Assignment Ask the family to contact Adventure Nannies to discuss the trip details and dates. If you are available, inform them that you are happy to set that time aside for them in the meantime. We will then contact you to confirm the trip details and your availability. Important Note: Adventure Nannies never charges nannies, or deducts any fee from our nannies salaries. As an agency, we advocate on behalf of our nannies for the highest possible salary. Adventure Nannies charges a fee to our families that cover the vetting process, including interviews, reference checks, background checks, and recruitment costs for each applicant. What to Do if the Family Extends your Assignment/Trip If you are available and interested to accept an extension to your assignment, please feel free to accept, and contact Adventure Nannies as soon as possible to update us on the change in plans. Let the family know that you will be contacting Adventure Nannies. We will let the family know that in the future, they should contact us prior to offering an extension to your assignment. What to Do if the Family Offers You a Long Term Position If you are interested in accepting a long- term offer from your traveling family, please thank them for the opportunity and let them know that Adventure Nannies will be in contact to follow up. Immediately contact us in the event of a

5 long- term offer, and we will advocate for you by creating a fair, comprehensive long- term employment agreement. Traveling Nanny Policy Recap Anytime you are offered work from an Adventure Nannies family, please let us know immediately. You are responsible for keeping Adventure Nannies updated as to the dates you work and if any changes occur in your working agreement with a family. If you are unsure about accepting a position, do not feel obligated to accept work directly from the family/on- the- spot! Have the family call us, and we will advocate for you whether you choose to accept or not. Please let us know if a client asks you NOT to report job assignments with their family. We need to be notified as this is in violation of our clients terms and conditions.
