2 Mission The Life Is Precious (Nowhi' Ida Bagoye') Program is dedicated to preserving the lives of tribal members who contemplate suicide, supporting them to find hope and providing the resources to develop the skills necessary to cope with the challenges they experience.
3 Program Overview Began 2010 Grant funded, to self sustaining, to grant funded; Previous recipient of the Methamphetamine Suicide Prevention Initiative, now a recipient of Zero Suicide Initiative. Consists of a team of 10 members: two therapists and four prevention specialists a Program Manager, a clinical supervisor, a peer support and a crisis assessment clinician. Life Is Precious Therapist: Tamela Evans LPC, Open Position Prevention Specialists: Billie Cosay, Ermon Stiover, Open Position, Open Position. Program Manager: Millicent Kane Clinical Supervisor: Maria Casal Porto Peer Support: Offer Pending Crisis Assessment clinician: Aldo Revilla
4 Program Overview Supporting Individuals to find HOPE Outreach follow up in all communities. Each team member has their own case load and goes out into the community to meet the potential clients where they are. Support Groups Healing Circle: A safe place for any community member who needs to talk and vent in a supported setting. Women s/men s Empowerment: Provide education to improve relationships and manage thoughts, feelings & decisions. Wellbriety: Native focused 12 step program to provide support to develop and maintain clean and sober living.

8 ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training: The Life is Precious Program provides two day ASIST workshops six months out of the year to community members and professionals to teach the skills to provide suicide first aid for someone struggling with suicidal thoughts. safetalk Training: The Life is Precious Program provides a three hour safetalk workshop by requests for community members and professionals to teach signs of suicide alertness someone might be struggling with suicidal thoughts and how to get them help.

10 Annual Suicide Prevention Walk (co-sponsor with Johns Hopkins Celebrating Life) Walks are offered in each of the three main communities on the reservation each year to promote awareness during the international suicide awareness week and on world suicide prevention day.
11 Annual Suicide Awareness Conference (co-sponsor Annual Suicide Awareness Conference (co-sponsor with Johns Hopkins Celebrating Life) Attendance at the conference is around 300 participants and is made up of tribal members and tribal professionals. with Johns Hopkins Celebrating Life): The Life is Precious Program includes the community to help with advertising the event by hosting a logo contest.

13 Referral Process If someone is in IMMEDIATE danger (intent, plan & means), call 911 or take person to the IHS ER If attempted and/or has thoughts, but is NOT in immediate danger (no immediate plans or means, then Complete the BLUE form with the following infomation 1.
