2 Blue Distinction Centers for Fertility Care Blue Distinction Centers Blue Distinction Centers can help patients and doctors to have better informed discussion about finding the right provider for the specific treatment a patient needs. The Blue Distinction Center program was developed with input from the medical community and evaluates providers on their ability to deliver high quality and safe specialty care based on criteria that directly impact patient results e.g., surgical team expertise and a history of better outcomes for patients. To see a list of the specific selection criteria used to evaluate providers for the Blue Distinction Centers for Fertility Care recognition, please visit the BCBSA s Blue Distinction Specialty Care webpage. In This Directory This Provider Directory includes the following provider entities (participating in Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey s networks) that have earned designation as Blue Distinction Centers for Fertility Care. Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) met overall quality measures for patient safety and outcomes, developed with input from the medical community. A Local Blue Plan may require additional criteria for providers located in its own service area; for details, contact your Local Blue Plan. Blue Distinction Centers+ (BDC+) also met cost measures that address consumers need for affordable healthcare. Each provider s cost of care is evaluated using data from its Local Blue Plan. Providers in CA, ID, NY, PA, and WA may lie in two Local Blue Plans areas, resulting in two evaluations for cost of care; and their own Local Blue Plans decide whether one or both cost of care evaluation(s) must meet BDC+ national criteria. National criteria for BDC and BDC+ are displayed on Individual outcomes may vary.
