You are to attempt both the sections.. All questions are compulsory. All questions of Section-A and all questions of Section-B are to be attempted separately. 4. Question numbers to in Section-A are one mark questions. These are to be answered in one word or in one sentence. Question numbers 4 to 6 in Sections-A are two marks questions. These are to be answered in about 0 words each. 6. Question numbers 7 to 8 in Section-A are three marks questions. These are to be answered in about 0 words each 7. Question numbers 9 to 4 in Section-A are five marks questions. These are to be answered in about 70 words each. 8. Question numbers to in Section-B are multiple choice questions based on practical skills. Each question is a one mark question. You are to select one most appropriate response out of the four provided to you. 9. Question numbers 4 to 6 in Section-B are questions based on practical skills. Each question is of two marks. SECTION-A In some organisms like bacteria, what is the undefined nuclear region containing only nucleic acid called? What is the total momentum of the bullet and the gun before the gun is fired? State the name and type of force which is responsible for the formation of tides in a sea. 4 How is heating of sugar and heating of ammonium chloride different from each other? Explain your answer. Identify the two types of tissues given in the diagram. Write two distinguishing features of each. Page of 6
6 A stone falls from the roof of a building and reaches the ground in. s. How high is the building? (g 9.8 ms ) 7 What is meant by a true solution? Write its any two properties and two examples. 8 What is evaporation? In what way is it different from boiling? (Give two points of difference) 9 Name the technique to separate the following : (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) (vi) Two immiscible liquids Two miscible liquids Two or more solutes dissolved in the same solvent Naphthalene from common salt Components of air To squeeze out water from wet clothes in washing machine. 0 Raman observed permanent slides of yeast and onion peel cells. List out the differences based on his observations. If a leafy branch of a healthy potted plant is covered with a polythene bag, tiny water droplets are seen on the inside of the bag. Why does this happen? Which part of the leaf is responsible for this function? What are its other functions? Describe an activity with diagram to explain conservation of momentum. You drop a rock off the top of a tall building. How tall is the building if it hits the ground 8.0 sec later? What is the impact velocity of the rock. Page of 6
4 A particle moves over three quarters of a circle of radius r cm. Calculate the magnitude of its distance and displacement. Define uniform acceleration and non-uniform acceleration. Give an example of each. 6 Write three points of difference in mass and weight of an object. 7 In Sohnapur, a small village, crops were dependent on rain. Villagers were at the mercy of monsoon. To prevent crop failure they discussed the matter in the panchayat and wanted to do some havan to appease Rain Gods. But Rakesh who was studying in class IX, advised all of them to adopt measures for conserving water and stop crop failure. (i) If there is low rainfall in a village throughout the year. List at least two measures by which farmers can prevent crop failure in future. (ii) (iii)? List two traditional ways of conserving water for irrigation. Which two traits of Rakesh have helped the villagers to sail through the difficult times 8 Explain intensive fish farming with the help of one example Write two advantages of this process. 9 Differentiate between an element and a compound. Categorize the following substances into elements and compounds- sodium chloride, Iodine, water, 4 carat gold, Oxygen gas, Carbon. 0 (a) Define the following terms : (i) fluidity (ii) diffusion (b) Explain, out of liquids and gases which will be having more fluidity and why? (a) Define tissue. What is the importance of tissues in multicelluler organisims? (b) Are plants and animals made of same types of tissues? If no, then. Write three points of difference. A player catching a moving ball moves his hands backwards. Explain why? A force 40N acting on a body of mass 0 Kg changes its velocity from m/s to m/s Determine : (i) Acceleration Page of 6
(ii) (iii) time for which force acts Distance covered. If you are trying to push a heavy box on a horizontal surface list various forces acting on the box. State the condition under which this box will start sliding on the surface. How will the magnitude of applied force required to move the box change if : (i) weight of the box is increased (ii) the surface on which the box is placed is made more rough? 4 Describe in short five methods by which you can increase the yield of crops and livestock. SECTION - B Rahul took arhar dal and coriander powder from her mother. He wants to test for the presence of starch. The reagent which he should use is : (a) dil HCl (b) safranin (c) methylene blue (d) Iodine solution 6 In the figure given below, the food extract taken in the test tube has : (a) Protiens (b) fats (c) sugar (d) starch 7 Sample X is a mixture of iron filings and sulphur and sample Y is the substance obtained by heating sample X strongly. Sample X and Y are separately shaken with carbon disulphide in two different test tubes. Which of the following is the correct set of observations? (a) (b) X is insoluble and Y is partly soluble. X is partly soluble and Y is insoluble. Page 4 of 6
(c) (d) X is soluble and Y is partly soluble. X is insoluble and Y is soluble. 8 You add carbon disulphide in a test tube containing the mixture of iron and sulphure. After shaking the test tube well it is observed that : (a) hydrogen sulphide gas is evolved (b) sulphur dissolves to form colourless solution and iron filings settle down (c) Sulphur dissolves to form a yellow solution and iron filings settle down. (d) sulphur and iron both remain suspended in solvent 9 Take.0 g of barium chloride in tube A and.0 g sodium sulphate in tube B. Add 0 ml water in both test tubes, The prepared solutions could be : (a) there is transparent solution in tube A and opaque solution in tube B. (b) there is homogeneous solution in tube A and heterogeneous solution in tube B. (c) homogeneous solutions in both-tube A and tube B. (d) A and B both have heterogeneous solution. 0 Anoop tabulated his observations about the cheek cells and onion cells as given below : Sl. No. Cheek cell Onion cell (i) Stain Pink Blue (ii) Nucleus Present Present (iii) Vacuole Centrally located Few, scattered (iv) Cell wall Absent Present and showed it to his teacher. Two of his observations were wrong. Which ones are they? (a) (i), (ii) (b) (i), (iii) (c) (ii), (iv) (d) (iii), (iv) The students were shown the permanent slide of striated muscles. They learnt the structural specifications of them, according to which the striated muscles are : (a) voluntary muscles (b) involuntary muscles (c) skeletal muscles (d) both (a) and (c) Page of 6
The separation method sublimation is used to separate a compound X from its mixture of X and a non-sublime salt. X can be : (a) Potassium chloride (b) Sugar (c) Iron Filling (d) Ammonium Chloride The statement which is true for frictional force is : (a) It is independent of weight of the object (b) It is in the direction of the applied force (c) It is independent of the nature of surfaces in contact (d) It opposes the relative motion between the objects 4 Three aqueous solutions are given to you with different solutes. A - sugar B - starch C - fine sand In which of these solutions will you get : (I) a translucent filtrate (II) a residue on filter paper on filtration? While determining the melting point of ice it was observed that even when ice cubes were being moderately heated using the gas burner, the temperature did not rise for sometime till the whole ice melted give the possible reason. 6 Before placing the raisins in water, the raisins weighed 0g. The raisins were then taken out of water, wiped well, and then the weight was found to be. g. Determine the percentage of water absorbed by raisins. Define the process due to which raisins absorb water. -o0o0o0o- Page 6 of 6
