Understand that sugars include all monosaccaharides and disaccaharides. i.e. maltodextrin is a polysaccharide (many monosaccharides), would these fall under sugars? ANSWER: There is a class name still in B (3)(b)(Item 16) FDR) for sugar, (sugar, liquid sugar, invert sugar or liquid invert sugar, singly or in combination). That may still be used. The question however appears to relate to the definition of sugars based ingredients, (B FDR). In that regard, there is to date no specific list that is all inclusive of such ingredients. There are however a few ingredients we understand that are not captured by this definition. These include the following. Polydextrose Erythritol Isomalt Sorbitol, Sorbitol Syrup Mannitol Maltitol, Maltitol Syrup Xylitol Lactitol Hydrogenated starch hydrolysates Glycerol (Glycerin) Glycyrrhizin Glycine INGREDIENTS Page 1
