Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and safety shower. Treat symptomatically. If vomiting occurs, solvent present may cause pulmonary pneumonitis. Water fog, foam, carbon dioxide or dry chemical. If involved in a fire, it will emit hydrogen floride, oxides of nitrogen and possibly cyanides. Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus. Keep up wind. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Spills & Disposal Wear protective clothing. Clear area of unprotected personnel. Contain spill and absorb with sand, soil or absorbent granules. If spill does enter waterways contact the local authority. Collect in an appropriate sealable container for disposal in an approved landfill. Personal Protection For appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), refer Section 8. Environmental Precautions 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Precautions for Safe Handling Conditions for Safe Storage This product is a herbicide and spills can damage crops, pastures and desirable vegetation. Prevent from entering drains, waterways or sewers. Avoid skin and eye contact and inhalation of spray mist. APPROVED HANDLER: This product must be under the control of an approved handler when applied in a wide dispersive manner; or used by a commercial contractor. TRACKING: Is not required RECORD KEEPING: Records of use as described in the NZS 8409 Management of Agrichemicals must be kept. Do not allow drift to occur outside the target area. Keep out of reach of children. Store in original container tightly closed and in a locked, dry, cool area away from foodstuffs, fertilisers and seeds. Storage must be in accordance with NZS 8409 Management of Agrichemicals. Stores containing 100L of Triflur 480 require secondary containment and are subject to signage, and more than 100L require emergency response plans. Always read the label and any attached leaflet before use. Aggregate Storage Volume Thresholds: When stored with substances of the same hazard classification the aggregate quantity must be considered. For full details refer to the current NZS8409 Management of Agrichemicals and the HSNO Regulations. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION National Exposure Standards Engineering Controls No exposure limits (WES, TEL or EEL's) have been specifically assigned for this product. The manufacturer of the solvent has recommended an occupational exposure limit of 100 mg/m3; 1ppm TWA, as total hydrocarbon. 3 Page: 3 of Personal Protective Equipment Hygiene Measures When opening the container, preparing spray and using the prepared spray wear safety goggles, chemically resistant gloves, chemically resistant boots, cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist, a NIOSH approved half face mask with organic vapour cartridge + dust/mist prefilter. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using. Remove protective clothing and wash hands and face thoroughly before meals and after work. Wash protective clothing daily after work. 9. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Chemical Stability Incompatible Materials Hazardous Reactions Hazardous Polymerization When stored appropriately this product should show no significant degradation for 2 years from the date of manufacture. Do not store below C. Prolonged reaction with water can cause slow decomposition and the formation of acid which may attack drums. If a part open drum is to be stored, ensure that no water has been added to the drum. Violent reactions between this product and oxidising agents are possible. Hazardous polymerisation will not occur. 11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Toxicology Information Inhalation Ingestion No harmful effects are expected if the precautions on the label and this SDS are followed. Nufarm trifluralin (technical) is manufactured to comply with a maximum limit of 0.ppm di-n-propylnitrosamine, generally, the levels are not detectable at a detection limit of 0.2ppm. The final product specification is set in accordance with the current FAO specification of max 0.ppm di-n-propylnitrosamine. When applying the product as a spray avoid breathing in spray mist. High vapour concentrations of the solvent while handling the concentrate are irritating to the eyes and the respiratory tract, may cause headaches and dizziness, and may have other central nervous system effects. The concentrate is of low toxicity if swallowed. However, swallowing of large amounts may cause injury, mainly due to the solvent. If aspirated into the lung, e.g. from vomiting, the presence of the solvent may result in chemical pneumonitis or other lung damage. Print Date: 16/10/2009

4 Page: 4 of Skin Eye Chronic Effects Carcinogenicity Acute Toxicity - Oral Prolonged contact with the concentrate can cause defatting of the skin and may result in dermatitis. May cause sensitisation by prolonged skin contact. The concentrate may cause irritation of the eyes. No chronic effects of trifluralin exposure have been documented in the literature over many years of use, other than relatively rare skin sensitisation. Early experiments on animals indicated that trifluralin was a carcinogen. This has since been found to be due to an impurity, di-n-propylnitrosamine, a known carcinogen, present in crude trifluralin at about ppm. Later experimentation with trifluralin on mice and rats given high doses of material containing 1ppm or less of di-n-propylnitrosamine have not shown any tumour formation. Daily doses for rats were mg/kg/day and for mice mg/kg/day. Thus trifluralin itself is considered to be non-carcinogenic LD0 (rat) >10,000 mg/kg for trifluralin LD0 (mouse),000 mg/kg for trifluralin In 2 year feeding trials, rats receiving 2,000 mg/kg diet suffered no ill effects. In 2 year feeding trials, dogs receiving 1,000 mg/kg body weight suffered no ill effects. The Australian Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) for trifluralin for a human is 0.02 mg/kg/day, set for the public for daily, lifetime exposure. This is based on the NOEL of 2. mg/kg/day, the level determined to show no effects during long term exposure for the most sensitive indicators and the most sensitive species. (Ref: Comm. Do not spray in high winds. Do not contaminate dams, waterways or sewers with this product. Marine pollutant. Spray drift can cause damage, read the label for more information. The following is data for the active ingredient, trifluralin. LC0 (96hr) for young rainbow trout is mg/l. LC0 (96hr) for young bluegill sunfish is mg/l. LC0 (48hr) for daphnia is 0.24 mg/l. 13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS Product Disposal Container Disposal 14. TRANSPORT INFORMATION Birds: Not toxic to birds. LD0 for bobwhite quail is >2,000 mg/kg Dispose of product only by using according to the label, or at an approved landfill. Triple rinse empty container and add rinsate to spray tank. Recycle empty container. Otherwise crush and bury in a suitable landfill.
