2 <P1> GENERAL INFORMATION NIKAFLOCK D- is polycationic floccuiating agent (solution type) consisting of dicyandiamide-formaldehyde resin, and can be used for decoloring-clarification of sewage and colored waste water from factories including dye-works and paper mill. Being a positively charged cationic flocculating agent, NIKAFLOCK D- neutralizes the negatively charged pollutants in the waste water to form insoluble complexes in water. NIKAFLOCK D- will offer further flocculating effect, if jointly used with the inorganic flocculating agents including aluminum sulfate, poly-aluminum chloride and ferric chloride, or the polymer group such as polyacrylamide and acryiic polymer. Viscosity of NIKAFLOCK D- vs Concentration and Temperature COAGULATION EFFECTS OF NIKAFLOCK D- [Case I] Acidic Dye, Milling Brilliant Red B :.2 gr. of NIKAFLOCK D- was added to 2, ml. of Milling Brilliant Red B solution (solid content; ppm, ph; 5.), and the concentration of NIKAFLOCK D- against the dye solution was ppm. The mixture was stirred with a jar tester at 5 rpm for five minutes. Then the mixture was filtered at reduced pressure, and the filtrate was examined for the light-transmission at 53 mμ wave length.

Coagulation Effect of Aluminum Sulfate [Case II] Aqueous Solution of Sodium Lignin Sulfonate (TOKO Lignin NP-8 R ) : To ml each of the 1. ppm and 2. ppm solutic,ns of sodium lignin sulfonate, 1. gr. (1, ppm) and.2 gr. (2, ppm) of NIKAFLOCK D- were added respectively. The mixtures were rotated in a Nestler tube for ten times, and kept still. Clarification was measured by light-transmission at 37 mμ wave length. Table 3. 6 <P5> [Case III] Kraft Pulp Mill Waste Water : NIKAFLOCK D- and aluminum sulfate were added to kraft pulp mill waste water (5 ppm). The mixture was stirred by a jar tester at 15 rpm for five minutes, and kept still. [Case IV] Kaolin Suspenslon : To 1, ml of the kaoiin suspension (3, ppm),.6 gr. of NIKAFLOCK D- (6 ppm) was added, and the mixture was rotated in a Nestler tube ten times followed by standing still. 7 <P6> [Case V] Polymer Emulsion Waste Water : NIKAFLOCK D- was added to polymer emulsion waste water (1, ppm of NIKA SOL XD-2992A, acrylic-vinylacetate co-polymer emulsion, ph 8.; manufactured by NIPPON CARBIDE INDUSTRIES CO., INC.). The mixture was stirred by a jar tester at 15 rpm for five minutes, and kept still. Polymer Emulsion Waste Water (1, ppm), ph of 8. PACKAGE, STORAGE AND HANDLING NIKAFLOCK D- is shipped in 2 liter iron drum of 2 kgs. net. NIKAFLOCK D- should be kept below 4 C. NIKAFLOCK D- shows no changes in quality at least for one year, when stored 4 C. Warm storage may cause decrease of viscosity. And cold storage may cause increase of viscosity which results in unfavorable handling. ln handling, all possible cares should be taken to avoid skin contact and swallowing.
