Based on our experience, formulators can easily switch from conventional 55% aqueous DMDMH product to Preservative by using the same percentage of commercial product. However, these recommendations should be verified by the customer under its own use conditions to be certain all of its performance criteria are met. Slower release of formaldehyde: In comparison to conventional DMDMH products, releases less formaldehyde at equal use concentrations. For instance, at a level of 0.2% in a household formulation, the ratio of free formaldehyde to total formaldehyde is 44% with, instead of 57% with a conventional 55% aqueous DMDMH product. Homogeneity stability homogeneous phase is stable when stored at 23 C. After storage of three months at 40 C, one month at 50 C and three months exposure to sunlight, Preservative maintains its homogeneity. Recommendations to formulate can be added at both room and elevated temperatures as high as 80 C for as long as 6 hours without loss of efficacy. However at high temperatures, mixing should be carried out in a closed vessel. It is best added during the cool down stage of processing. It can be used effectively over a wide ph range. Compatibility is fully compatible with a wide variety of formulations as well as all types of cationic, nonionic and anionic systems. Global Registrations Europe: DMDMH has been notified and supported under the Biocidal Product Directive for the Product Types 6, and 13. France: DMDM Hydantoin can be used in the household and the institutional hygiene sectors as an ingredient in cleaning products to clean-up materials that could be in contact with food.
