TRE is built on the premise that it is completely natural to move towards a fetal response in relation to stress, anxiety, trauma. It is likewise just as natural to have the tremor release response after the perceived threat has subsided. From an evolutionary standpoint, it is inefficient to have evolved with an instinctual neurophysiological defense response without having also evolved with a naturally activated neurophysiological deactivation of the defense response. Tremoring is the natural response of the body to reduce the high aroused state of the stressful and traumatic experience and reduce the physical contraction pattern.

The tremors are a reflexogenic pattern held in procedural memory. They are part of the genetic composition of the human organism. They do not contain trauma specific cues that can re-elicit specific traumatic experiences. They are a generically based discharge of the human organism. In short, neurogenic tremors achieve extinction of a fight/flight/freeze reaction that occurred at the time of the perceived threat. This highly aroused reaction of the body during a threat stay active in the body until the tremor response is activated to complete the discharge. Then the body can return to its normal rest and relaxation response. Scaer, R. (2001a). The body bears the burden: Trauma, dissociation and disease. New York: Hawthorn Press.

Physical Recovery Physical injuries such as: neck, shoulder and back release. This research comes from the field of: vibrational therapy Psycho- Emotional Recovery PTSD symptoms such as: hyperousal, sleeplessness, irritability, disturbing memories Copyright 2008 by David Berceli

The trauma reaction is primarily an unconscious & instinctual response of a living organism. Neurological, biological and anatomical changes occur without the conscious decision of the individual. + + = Neurological Brain Process Biological Adrenaline Opioids Anatomical Muscle Tone Dense / Flaccid Psychological Content of Brain This somatic reaction of protection creates a secondary psychological response to adapt and adjust to the new physiology. By working directly with the primary responses, ego defenses can be minimized in the recovery process. Copyright 2008 by David Berceli

Michael Merzenich A non-specific neuroscience term referring to the ability of the brain and nervous system in all species to change structurally and functionally as a result of input from the environment. Plasticity occurs on a variety of levels, ranging from cellular changes involved in learning, to large-scale changes involved in cortical remapping in response to injury. The most widely recognized forms of plasticity are learning, memory, and recovery from brain damage. Neuroplasticity can work in two directions: 1. it is responsible for deleting old connections 2. it enables the creation of new connections. a. Neuron connections that are inefficient or infrequently used are allowed to fade away. b. Neuron connections that are highly used are preserved, strengthened, made even more synaptically dense (called synaptic pruning, ). NEUROGENIC TREMORS may simply be the brain s ability to re-activate a dormant neuronal connection and then it strengthens this connection each time the tremors are activated. 7 TRE works by creating neurogeic tremors in the autonomic nervous system. These tremors both allow the nervous system to discharge energies related to the defensive responses of flight, fight, and freeze; and communicate to the brain that the body is no longer in the danger for which the responses were initiated. We are allowing the autonomic nervous system to return to a more ventral vagal parasympathetic state.

The psoas muscle contracts the body to bring the extremities together, rolling us into a ball, creating an enclosure that gives us a sense of safety while protecting the soft, vulnerable parts: the genitals, vital organs, and the center of gravity of the body. (Koch, 1997). Copyright 2008 by David Berceli

Letting go is not for the purpose of forgetting or forgiving the past, it is about releasing the energy of the past to give us back our lives in the present which is necessary to deliver us into a new future.

Trauma is an overwhelming and seemingly unbearable experience. TRAUMA It is precisely for this reason and because of this reason WORLD VIEW -Experiences - Culture - Belief System -Family Because the trauma is so overwhelming and challenging to our strongly held belief system, we try to patch up the hole it has that trauma made will in our force lives. you out of your old way of thinking into a new way of being in the universe.
